So we decided out of boredom and love for the league to spend a about an hr thinking about it and rank our top 30 assets BRHL2. their was one done of 5-10 early in offseason before alot of g.ms got here. were hoping this one could envoke some good discussion during the offseason now with the board pretty crazily active from a good chunk of the g.m's..
so top 30 brhl2 Assets in a complete dispersal draft who would be ur first round list..
MINE KIRK ATLANTA
#1) Ovechkin-obviously #2) Crosby- obviously #3) Price- With his dead low salary 78 rate with great attributes he is in my top 3 over malkin whose russian flight risk skills scares me.. he might legein hockey imo.. if Price turns into another brodeur great 10+ yrs of 85+goalie is unreal or heck turco good his 10+ yrs of 80+ goaltending puts him here for me..
#4) Malkin- dont need to say anything will be #3 on almost everyother list/ #5) Kovalchuk- 5.5 million 4 yrs then rfa deal.. most dominate offensive guy for sim this yr not named AO. will continue to pop 50 a yr nhl aswell. #6) Heatley- 50goal-50assists for two straight nhl yrs,, 3.5 mill only for this yr with very high rates. still young and paired with another guy on this list in nhl doesnt hurt. Heatleys is the total package as NHL player.
#7) Luongo- Best goalie assets for team looking 3 yr window.. his salary will be tough to swallow for a career- 8+ per yr is the rumours... #8) Zetterberg- insane rates with nice contract to bad its only for 1 yr before a big payday.... perfect all-around player sim and NHL.. #9) Phanuef- Physical force in sim that will be scary.. Age/potential have him ranked 9th. #10) Vinny-Proven Champ. Proven brhl2 champ twice lol. total package though as a player which is rare for a french player.. #11) J.Iginla- Purest form of a powerforward the NHL has this guy is a freak with his combination of strength and speed the two things the every coach dreams about.. ohh and also is one of best captains in nhl.. #12) R.Nash- could u even leagally drink to celebrate ur rocket richaurd trophy year when u won it rick?? this guy is going to be Iginla Jr. reason he is behind iginla even tho younger is because he hasnt just made that step i think the difference 11th and 12th on in my list is big. #13) M.Richards- Total package doesnt have the pure offense to make my top 10 but he is still damn good and like i said a complete package in bobby clarke mold hmm howd he get that?? #14) Kopitar- Freakishly good but still somewhat unknown but is a complete package muxch like a E.Staal, but younger cheaper. #15) H.Lundqvist- 3 time vezina finalist, is going to be a 6-8 yr fhl starter for whoever gets him at around 7 mill averaged out.. #16) P.Kane- Filthy young hockey player, has vision and the pure skill to think and play a couple seconds ahead of everyone thats why his size is zero issue. crosby is strong kid. Kane has zero strength but doesnt need it except to develop more snipe which will come leaving ur teaanage years.. #17) J.Thornton- Best PP player in NHL imo with only four guys on ice and it taking TWO take take joe off the puck its pretty easy formula for whoever he plays for.. #18) E. Johnsson- Rob Blake cloned.. but with newer feet. a lil quicker than blake even in his prime IMO. #19) R.Getzlaf- is a horse. ok he floats some but still, he has size/speed/shot combination that is rare. #20) M.Gaborik- Speed and snipe off the wing to dazzle anyone. his huge payday hurts his value on my list a little but pure skill hed be top 10.. #21) P.Stasny- Heir to Joe Sakic's throne. #22) J.Toews- very good two-way player in mold of old mike modano just not as fast..more of a leader though forsure... #23) C.Pronger- CP44 has to make the list he is a freak in sim and real life which wont change some guys on this list their is risk involved his guarenteed excellence puts him in 23 on my list. #24) E.Staal- Great offensive player always seems to find the loose puck around nets, or in corner to feed open teammates. High high hockey IQ from so many games having to beat his brothers 3-1 or maybe hed take jared in his diapers hahaha.. #25) J.Spezza- to much a floater to be any higher. but his skill is undeniable. #26) J.Bouwmeester- Stallion of a d-man asked to be anchor of everything on a sinking sinking ship in nhl. in brhl2 he is in heaven passing to crosby-iginla-zets-kopita on the PP.. #27) N.Backstrom (wsh)- gets to play with that #1 guy and is pretty filthy himself. #28) A.Hemsky- Freak of nature offensively with puck, got paid a rumoured 90% of the raise shawn horcoff got from oilers management. #29) Z.Chara- Physically dominate beast in the FHL world. salary isnt to overcostly which is also a bonus. #30) S.Gagner- filthy vision, if speed and snipe come will move into everyone top 15...
spent about 30-40 min putting this together so not to bad..
I agree with Gareth. If I pick fourth, I jump for joy. Everyone else on the list seems good...although I would probably move Kane down a bit....and Hemsky up. I think his upside will show this year and he will be in the top 25 in NHL scoring.
Can't really go wrong with these guys some notibles left off the list the Sedin's Perry Gomez Marleau St.Louis Briere and I'm sure there are many more.
I might go through later and see what BRHL team has the most guys off my top 50. I'd guess Atl Chi SJ and Buf have a lot right now.
After looking at Kirk's list that isn't much better than TSN's I noticed I missed E.Staal already so I'd put him around the 20 - 25 range.
yeah way to pimp your assets kirk... price over luongo hey... is that before or after carboneau pulls him for halak???
also I would like to add for nomination to somewhere in the 25-40 OV assets, even though some will disagree...
Mikko Koivu. Look at his NHL totals: Regular Season Playoffs Season Team Lge GP G A Pts PIM GP G A Pts PIM 2005-06 Minnesota Wild NHL 64 6 15 21 40 -- -- -- -- -- 2006-07 Minnesota Wild NHL 82 20 34 54 58 5 1 0 1 4 2007-08 Minnesota Wild NHL 57 11 31 42 42 6 4 1 5 4
This season he will be playing top-line with Gaborik. Will be playing top-line PK. Contract is 900k for this season in our league, and a very modest 3.25 mil for next 3 seasons in NHL. meaning I will able to get this guy locked up long-term on the VERY cheap.
Also here is a list for you, tell me what they have in common: Heatley, Doan, Kovalchuk, Datsyuk, Crosby, Kopitar, Zetterberg, Iginla, Spezza, Thornton, Lecalvier, B. Richards, Malkin, St. Louis, Horcoff, Alfredsson, Savard, BrindAmour, Hossa, Roy, Ovechkin, Staal, M. Richards, Stastny, M. Koivu
If you guessed they are all forwards that is correct. If you guessed they are all 80+ OV you would be wrong - Savard and Koivu don't make the cut. The secret that Im trying to get across: all of these guys have EN ratings of 77+. Which means there is a very strong correlation to ice time in NHL equalling better rates in BRHL2. The point I am trying to make is that if the coach in the NHL trusts you a lot and puts you out in every situation, its likely that you are one of the best players.
That is why im projecting Koivu to be an 80+ player next year, barring injury. And at a cost of less than 3 million, he will shoot up the list.
OK, now have at telling me how wrong I am.

Get ahold of me soon, or my players will already be dealt!
he has heatley twice.. thats why i have 5 guys i see.. the picks of ufas seem off to me i dunno id never go ufa in top 2 rounds of a league draft.. and rex koivu would be looking more round 4 than mid 2nd IMO...
PP.. #27) N.Backstrom (wsh)- gets to play with that #1 guy and is pretty filthy himself. #30) S.Gagner- filthy vision, if speed and snipe come will move into everyone top 15...
