Anaheim, CA (AP) - On Monday evening at the 2008 BRHL Entry Draft, the Anaheim Ducks were very busy making a total of 12 selections.
Earlier in the off-season, the Ducks moved the second overall pick with Ilya Bryzgalov to the Bruins for the fourth overall pick, Pascal Leclaire and Vlad Sobotka. The Ducks used the fourth overall by taking highly-touted prospect, Jakub Voracek. Management may be criticized for not taking James Van Riemsdyk, however, the team is confident that Voracek has the ability to become an all-star in the very near future.
With their other first round pick, Anaheim selected Fabian Brunnstrom. The Ducks expected Brunnstrom to be chosen ealier in the round and were thrilled that he dropped to the 25th spot.
The Ducks added 4 centers, 4 wingers and 4 defencemen in the 2008 draft:
4th - Jakub Voracek (RW) 25th - Fabian Brunnstrom (LW) 48th - Steven Wagner (D) 56th - Dana Tyrell (C) 61st - Jamie Benn (LW) 63rd - Mike Hoeffel (W) 72nd - Yannick Weber (D) 86th - Alex Grant (D) 89th - Christopher DiDomenico (C) 117th - Cade Fairchild (D) 123rd - Joel Lundqvist (C) 143rd - Darryl Boyce (C)
