LA Offseason

The Kings under new management came in making promises of big change and GM Rumpel feels he has delivered.

Fans who felt they had a competative team after the dispersal draft were correct but GM Rumpel has now issued this statement:

"we had a good team and probably a playoff team but we weren't a cup team and the potential to become a cup team I just don't think was there"

We took Dipetro early and haven't even considered moving him he is a quality young goalie and those are hard to come by this is a realistic 2 year re-build that will hopefully put LA within the higher echelon of the BRHL and a team with cup aspirations.

In order to become a team that will challenge for the cup I felt we had to blow it up and find some depth and quality depth.  We made a lot of very big moves and I'll admit that we didn't win every deal but we targeted specific guys and did what it took to get them.  The LA organization is confident the young group they have put together will improve quickly and provide a lot more competative team than Kings fans have seen in the past, sooner than later.

We lost some BRHL Stars in Briere, Marleau, Boyle, Kunitz and Kronval and also moved quality players in Robidas Laich and Foote.  However the very young core of players we recived in return including Pavelski Wolski Hensick Pouliot Carle Sekera Skille and Abdelkader will make an impact in this league sooner than many think.  We also picked up some first round picks heading into next years draft which we feel is a lot stronger than 08.

With many big moves already made in LA GM Rumpel doesn't see to much activity on the trade front anymore as most guys people were interested in are gone and the guys left are going to take other GM's over paying to get.

LA is well under the cap and will have to bring a vetran or two in during the free agency period.

Rumpy
