How are deals being rejected with stipulations based off financial situations for next year.. but deals with stipulations on NHL games played or european contracts are ok???
to Phoenix: Tim Connolly
to Anaheim: Mikhail Grabovski Jeff Tambellini
Terms, Conditions and Future Considerations:
1. If Connolly fails to play at least 41 games (half-season) in 2008-09, Phoenix gets a second round draft pick in the 2009 BRHL draft (Anaheim's choice).
2. If Connolly only plays 41 to 60 games in 2008-09, Pheonix gets a third round draft pick in the 2009 BRHL draft (Anaheim's choice).
3. If Connolly only plays 61 to 70 games in 2008-2009, Phoenix gets a fifth round pick in the 2009 BRHL draft (Anaheim's choice).
4. If, however, Mikhail Grabovski signs a contract with a European team before the end of the NHL season, compensation to which Phoenix would have been entitled to pursuant to the foregoing will be forfeited. The "end of the NHL season" for this purpose is defined as the conclusion of Grabovski's team's last regular season game if they DO NOT make playoffs, or last playoff game if they DO make playoffs
the deal i made for martin has a stipulation based off the financial situation of the Thrashers next year. with guys like V.Fillpulla (signing bigger deal than expected off his ELC) biting the Thrasher's last season causing them to have to move players for less than market value the team has made a simple stipulation in this latest deal that enables they have flexibility
NYI Recieve: Boston 2nd if Nokelainen plays in 82 NHL games over the 08 and 09 NHL seasons if Nokelainen plays less than 82 NHL games in those seasons NYI recieve Boston 4rth.
NHL would not allow this stipualation....... If Nokelainen scores 60 NHL goals in those 2 years the Islanders have the option of taking him back.
If only Boston put the stipulation in that if Thornton won the Hart Trophy the year they traded him they could have him back for Stuart and Primeau lol.

Kirk,
Make the stipulations not have anything to do with trading the player back to you. That is what is against the rules.
Regardless of what you moved for Tyutin I'm looking at the deal by itself. You give up a potential 1st overall pick (very very small potential) but still has a chance. Blackhawks got kane with a #5 spot year's back. In return you get a solid 2/3 type who logs lots of minutes on a team with 1 other good dman.
I'm fairly certain someone like Colin Wilson or Alex Pietrangelo will be there with that Phx pick- in which case both have far greater value in my eyes than Ballard.
Also, I was hoping to deal Zetterberg + for those two early picks.

If the Phoenix pick ends up top 3, I will probably be disappointed. However, if it is lower than that (say 7th overall), I think I will have done well. I'd rather take a sure thing like Ballard than run the draft lottery and maybe end up with an eventual Benoit Pouliot, Gilbert Brule or Al Montoya... When Boumeester leaves Florida this summer, Ballard will be given a far greater roll as well. I need a guy that can step in immediately, not a guy that is going to take 2 or 3 more years to have good ratings.
Honestly, I think this is just sour grapes on your part.
