Haha, I knew Id take some heat for this deal...just like I did when I traded Eric Staal....but since that trade im like 20-3-1....
IMO, since its a cap league...contracts are soo important....Turco is on the decline and Horton (while i like his potential) is on pace for only a 20G 50pt NHL season...not worth the +4M he will get as a RFA...
As for Seabrook, hes a solid Dman....bu players like him are often under-appreciated by the simulator.
I agree I did give up some quality players, but the opportunity to acquire a superstar comes very rarely in the brhl......imo, Chara for 3years at only 6M is amazing!!
.....its contracts like these that will allow me to remain competitive long term
Here is what I posted in the Press Release thread ********** Yes, it was a huge trade for both teams
My tight cap situation coupled with Horton's and Seabrook's RFA status made them very available....
Parise has clearly out performed Horton in the NHL, so I had to make room for him on the top 6.
Since the acquisition of Bryzgalov, Turco has been my backup and at 4.7million....thats an expensive backup........so Turco was avalable as well
I decided that rather then deal them away individually for a handful of lesser assets, I would try to package them for a superstar.....hence, Chara.
Overall i added a very affordable superstar and solved my depth issues.....and most importantly, i have some cost certainty for next season....so ill be able to keep this team together for several seasons...
if things continue as is, turco will be a very expensive backup.... if turco suddenly turns it around, then this becomes a win for kirk.... as it stands, i think it's a pretty even trade, even though i'm a fan of seabrook and horton
To Philadelphia: Peter Forsberg To New Jersey: Antti Miettinen, Trevor Lewis, Car 6th
I thought i wasnt giving enough up for the guy, but considering it was a public auction and I dominated the offers by quite a large margin, I guess I may be wrong. But still to acquire the #1 scorer in BRHL2 outside of buffalo is a huge improvement.
I can put Petey on a top line with Hossa and Sedin or Whitney, and am then able to put Koivu in a checking role with Penner and Moreau on my 3rd line.
On a side note, Petey was my absolute favorite player growing up, and my absolute favorite moment of him was him making (cant remember detroit guys name) face bleed all over the ice in a western conference final battle against the red wings...
The guy was absolute clutch in every major hockey game EVER, and Im happy to have him on my squad going forward!!
Go Flyers!

Get ahold of me soon, or my players will already be dealt!
Tough decision to make in Colorado, having to move fan favorite Marty St.Loius, but with our tight cap next year and our push for the cup this year it made sense. Getting a higher rated goalie was big, even though our original target was Kipper. Doan we hope will be a solid player who may or may not give us the offensive threat of St.Loius, but adds another two way presence.
The Av's are still in the hunt for a top puck moving dman for the powerplay and could still be looking to upgrade between the posts. Another sniper could be in the works too, after a few low-scoring outings.
to Anaheim: Kevin Shattenkirk Comp, 4th round (2009) TB 6 (2009)
Rumours in Anaheim suggest that the Ducks moved Grebeshkov because Atlanta GM, Kirk Shuck, was constantly inquiring about Grebeshkov's availability but did not want to part with anything to acquire him. Now it Tampa's problem!
However, I wonder whether I have created an even bigger problem by acquiring a player by the name "ShatOnKirk".

Moving Sturm, Comeau and a pick and cash for these two players fills two very important position presently and going forward.
We add Svatos and his SC to the wing, we add Plekanec and his solid ratings to our C position. This is a present day deal giving us some important ratings.
The fact that they are both signed long term at a great salary gives us some great flexibility, even though neither may retain their current ratings, this deal long term is a winner. :)
i like the deal for LA, giguere's salary is a lot, but i would rather have giguere's huge salary and the possibility of him playing extremely well instead of dipietro, where you just wonder when he's going to be injured next....
the 1st and 2nd is obviously a win for toronto, but getting rask back.... saw him when he played in the world juniors and if it wasn't for him, finland wouldn't have reached the semis.... although i thought pogge outplayed him, rask should make the nhl in the near future
