thanks Alex... yeah I am not saying that everyone who took a team over and has made some good moves like Washington, Anaheim, Florida, Detroit, etc.. should be MADE to enter the dispersal...
I am saying they should be given the option of entering the dispersal...

then that makes sense..the way i read the question I was like..wtf...
lol, Eric whats up? I totally must have misinterpreted what you were saying then... I thought you said you wanted to guage the interest of the league first...
Since it was a 7-0 vote in favour last time I checked, I would say the leagues opinion is quite slanted towards GMs who took over after season 1 HAVING THE OPTION of entering in the dispersal draft...
Look, I didnt mean to create waves here... No team in the league is affected worse by this than MY team, because as is I have a pretty clear path to the division title for a minimum of 2 years... this would bring way more competitive balance to my division and the league...
Once again, sorry didnt mean to create an issue where there wasnt one before, just thought I was helping out.

im confused where is the poll we all voted on?? its the only logical way to do a dispersal if we are having one, you have to leave to option open for the guys who took over scrubby teams or else they would have a reason to beotch.. anyhow Sheldon Souray-Olli Jokinen- Dan Ellis all being shopped in thrasher land..
I completely get what was written, by allowing teams to choose to enter the dispersal draft we are giving them the opportunity to greatly improve their teams when in my opinion they don't deserve that opportunity. they took over a team knowing what shape it was in... deal with it.
I could probably improve my assets by entering a dispersal draft but it wouldn't be fair. I traded a number of good assets last season in order to make a (rather pathetic) cup/playoff push. To be allowed to turn around now and re-vamp my roster after doing that just doesn't sit right with me.
I somewhat agree with Vardy.. GM's took over the team knowing they had a **** team and have to want to improve it.
Here's an idea if it is about being fair and realistic:
Offer Vacant clubs at a discount price (say 10-40% off). The lost money could come out of the overall prize pool. In season 2 they pay 20% more and so on, until they are paying full price. A GM could ideally take a team over for a discount price (determined by our trustworthy commish's), and turn it into a money maker.
Also, a GM with a stacked team should have the option to sell his team (ex: Buffalo/Chicago:200- 500 or more) and a GM could pick up a money maker. The Buyer then has to pay say 10% of the price to the league. (making up some $ from the discount teams).
The commish's should have the overall say on all sales, but it is an idea...
YEAH YOU KNOW WHAT NEVERMIND THE WHOLE "FAIRNESS" ISSUE
I am more than happy to collect my paycheck as division winner for the next 3 years EASY, and then probably at least a few more after that before actually having a challenge...
yeah no big deal eric has to be stuck with his crummy team... I mean he knew full well going in to it that it would be a rebuilding job...
DO YOU GUYS EVEN HEAR YOURSELVES?????

look, im not trying to make a big deal out of this and I am not gonna even make 1 peep about this from this point forward...
I was trying to help some GMs out that I feel were shorted last offseason (Phoenix, Columbus, Washington, NYI specifically) but Alex has turned that Washington team around and would be crazy to enter the dispersal and isnt going to if given the option... and phoenix is against the whole concept because he'd rather have price and the rest of the garbage on that squad... and columbus hasnt responded to my emails in weeks, so who knows if they will even be back... and well, eric doesnt seem to enthralled with the idea either....
so I am simply gonna stop championing this cause and collect my consecutive division titles that I have coming to me...
thanks for trying to understand the issue, those who actually took the time..
and the fact that guys like anaheim, vancouver, florida, columbus, st. louis, etc... didnt weigh in on this one iota is pretty fricking ridiculous, seeing as they were the ones going to be affected...
MY reason for wanting this was a selfish one I guess, I figured a few (3-5 at most) more teams in the dispersal would lead to way more activity for the rest of us...
as for the extra work for eric, I would be more than willing to do most of the heavy lifting, as I know some other GMs would... but like I said I am not going to comment on this any more from this point forward..
