Toronto Maple Leafs GM Job

Hey all,

since we are all gm's of the league and have been around... have any of you considered to taking an opportunity of applying for the Maple Leafs vacancy lol...

its pretty sad when 2nd tier gm's aren't even going to interviews and accepting jobs elsewhere like armstrong did yesterday....

i think i should apply cause so far the only candidate is Dave Nonis... and my name is Dave maybe they will call the wrong Dave and I'll get the job lol..

Craig Patrick recently said that he wanted to get back into hockey. I remember a few years ago, he flew out to interview for the Pheonix job. He could be a good choice.

I have no doubts that at least some of the GMs I know in fantasy hockey would do a better job than half the professional NHL GMs.

Dave, you have my vote...if I had one.

Kirk, I log likely 1/4 of the hours you log on here, lets be honest.. LOL you're not fooling anyone. You eat sleep and drink BRHL2.

I just had a surgery that put me out for 2 weeks, and I still likely come on here a max of 30 mins a day.

Please don't confuse me being more knowledgeable and more intelligent than you with spending more time than you. Vanny (old NYI) spent like 10 hours a day on here and I think we all knew how good of a GM he was.

The thing I don't get is that the Maple Leafs seem to treat this job as a prescious venture. Trying to talk GMs out of their contracts with other teams isn't going to work. It reminds me a lot of European Football where the top clubs in the world will flex their muscle to talk to and sign anyone with talent.

I think the best chance for the Leafs is for them to find someone who is willing to push the full blown rebuild button. It will be better for them in the long run, even if it means missing the playoffs for another 3 years.  If I were them, I'd talk to the assistant GMs at the more successful clubs in the league over the past 3-4 years (DET, NJ, BUF, etc.).
