And this wasn't re-writing the rules, this was a clarification on what was already in the rules.

did i say i wanted to be replaced eric?? no obviously not..

is their a chance they could still be pissed off completely = yes...

this was re-writing the rules, (thats why they were re-typed) before it was clearly stated for the forwards and nothing for the defense (as phoenix started this thread with). so going by the written rule it would have been legal. now it is not. sure we all understood the intent but it wasnt written that way(again as phoenix started this thread with), so it isnt a stretch to think rex had the same view on the written rule.

again im just saying their is a chance rex could be really upset and it would be justified. montreal doesnt have a g.m anymore so no one can complain (except as a league controlled team wouldnt they have noticed the rule lol :) hehe)

and this isnt me trying to go head to head with you eric. i just stated what has happened, and the fact that rex could be upset about it.... please dont take this as me trying to annoy/piss you off.

I will say that I thought the rule had nothing to do with defensemen...

hence why I had no objections to Kirk playing Chara on the 3rd line in our series...

truthfully I thought it would hurt his squad more than help, but apparently I was wrong as the sim doesnt take much into effect regarding EN... or else why would Chara's health not even go down 1 iota...

however, I will say I don't feel cheated even after the rule was changed, but to change it because of 1 complaint by 1 GM (and this seems to be a common theme with a few specific GMs) is kind of bush-league.... makes a lot of us feel like the playing field isn't even... which is frustrating because my dedication to this league and my $50 should be more than enough to be given a fair shot...

I will not post any more regarding this topic or any such topic, but I wanted to make my voice heard because it seems to me that a few BOD members have waaay too much influence in this league, when it should be a dictatorship run by Eric and Bryce and THATS IT!

and to go a little further, Id like to see the BOD REMOVED next year as it seems to me they have very little to do and since it was initially meant as a trade board (and no trades are ever turned down), well there seems to be absolutely no need for it... and creates the kind of atmosphere that does not feel fair to everyone...

Good that you chimed in Rex. I don't think it was Eric caving to the whims of a BOD member. Since I am not on the BOD, I think they do serve as an important check and balance on the Commisssioners to bring thoughts and ideas in a certain situation.

To me, this case was someone recognizing what can be interpreted as a skirting of a rule because of a lack of definition. Lines rules exist to make sure that a guy doesn't have two good lines that he plays the hell out of, and two minor league lines that never see the ice.

The fact that it didn't outright state defensemen in the rule is why Kirk used Chara on the third line. But, if you think about it, we have back up minutes for goalies, a one forward double shifting rule, why wouldn't defensemen be included in a "spirit of competition" rule. It is alluded to when it states that "it is a known that two dmen will double shift on the fourth line." logically we all know it has to happen. That alludes to "since it is understood that dmen have to double shift on the fourth line, other double shifting of dmen is not permitted." Whether Kirk or anyone wanted to read between the lines, that is what it meant to me. My only involvement in this situation was to be asked how I would interpret the rule.

I don't think position of BOD member had any effect on this situation, and I think that is the case in all situations. I know I strongly disagreed with something...thinking back....what the heck was it....oh yeah...the prospects payouts....a guy with good prospect that is in the top 50 will never get paid because he won't stay on the list long enough because we pay for this year's prospects when we draft a year behind.

I at the time was a BOD member and I fought tooth an nail against the way we do the payouts and that had no influence....I don't think the league caters to those influences at all.

i disagree completely george sorry.. if you honestly think that my opinion or joe's or rex's is as influential as say yours its comedy.. heck why would eric ask your opinion on this matter AT ALLL when it is more than likely you will be playing in the finals against luke or I.. "My only involvement in this situation was to be asked how I would interpret the rule."

As a FORMER BOD member and strong g.m who is honest. your opinion counts alot more than loud mouths like mine and rex's opinion's. If you think the opinions carry the same wait then your crazy... what rex is saying is it shouldnt matter we both pay 50$ why is my view on the rule not as important as yours or luke's???

Funny thing, you are offbase again Kirk. Eric didn't ask me, someone else did. And in BRHL2 just like BRHL one, or any other league, when there is a rule question, they go to the GMs who seem to have a balanced viewpoint to get feedback to make rulings on disputes.

My opinion is only one, like yours or Rex's or anyone elses. Eric's job is to determine what is fair based on all the information and make a ruling which he did.

Your first instinct seems to be that the world is against you...and it isn't. If Eric would have said "The rule is being worked within." I wouldn't lose my mind and start screaming "nepotism!!"

That is the only problem with you in this instance..is the out to get me paranoia. No one is out to get you, or against you. Some don't like your GM style, while I personally enjoy parts of the way you do business. I don't think Eric would look at my opinion and pick my side just because you and I had different views. I think you are way off base.

Personally, I have an opinion on everything just like you do. I hope that when I talk to Eric or Bryce, they only take it as one opinion. As far as I am concerned, as long as what is decided is for what is best for the league, that is what is most important.
