Ottawa-- With a 4-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils the Ottawa Senators have clinched home ice advantage for the playoffs against the Flyers, a result that many didn't expect in the nation's capital after the team was purged of much of its veteran talent for youth and picks.
"I'm proud of what the guys accomplished, everyone understood why the trades were made, but took it upon themselves to not use that as an excuse and to elevate there play," said GM Rob Botham, while we realize we might not be the most talented team in the playoffs this year the guys are working hard and that can take you a long way."
To advance past Philly the Sens will have to hope that star net minder Roberto Luongo continues to struggle and that Chris Mason can find a way to keep the Sedin twins off the score sheet certainly no easy task but one the Sens are looking forward to.
"We will have to play them physically and just not give them enough room to hurt us", said Willie Mitchell the play that will entrusted with the job of shutting down the twins.
"A strong defensive system has been one of our keys all year and that certainly can't change now, we will have to play as a team and make sure our forwards come back and support the defenseman." added coach Dave Tippett.
Sens management is hoping for a sell out crowd at Scotiabank Place and that the fans can help lead the Senators to a long playoff run.

and as for how I know him, this league was how I originally met him, but our love for the oilers has allowed me to meet him at a sportsbar a few times, and every oilers game I go to, I give him a call to see if he's going so we can have some beers..

sorry for posting on your press release here Rob..
congrats on the season.. I thought you were in dire straights there for the playoffs when you made your deals at the deadline and proceeded to lose like 12 of 15 or something crazy like that...
i guess your coach must be much better than mine, because I have never had such a frustrating time in FHL watching luongo stumble late last year and cost me a playoff spot (to pitts on the last day of the season, who proceeded to win at least one playoff round if I remember correctly) and then to go through another late-season funk this year because of shaky tending (especially when my D is my strong suit)
