Just a tad off-topic:

I just had to put this down in writing to get it off my chest a little...

Craig MacTavish is the worst coach in hockey. And i dont know a lot about coaches on the whole throughout the league. He was handed a head coaching spot with 0 experience...

He compared Cogliano to Todd Marchant (pissing off cogliano of course, who had some choice words for the edmonton press)

He compared Marty Reasoner to Joe Sakic (with a little less speed).

Do those 2 comparisons seem like the musings of a sane observer??

All I will tell you non-Edmontonians about Craig MacTavish, is that on garbage-bag day he spent 6 minutes of his 22 minute closing statements about our entire season discussing how much he felt Marty Reasoner needed to be briought back, because he does such a good job...

It was the final validation to me that Marty Reasoner has pictures of MacT sucking off Glen Anderson, because there really is no explantion why MacT puts him on the ice so much and goes to bat for the guy when every Edmonton fan can clearly see that he is by far our least-talented offensive forward (save stortini) yet somehow manages to get occasional PP shifts, entire games where he centers hemsky, etc.

I really dont know where to put something regarding MacT, because I might have an aneurysm this summer thinking about the guy..

so i hope to bury my feelings under this Tom Gilbert thread...

please dont respond to this anyone or I may go off on a 25,000 word tangent about the failings of the MacT era..

I wish I could put into words accurately how it is to cheer for a team that is doomed by absolute incompetence, but you really do have to live through an absolute idiot to understand.. much like fans of the Knicks...

Unfortunately, I dont see the light at the end of the tunnel because of his connections to his bosses and the community...

no, seriously, there isnt 1 person on the planet that I have more disdain for..

If I ever see this guy in person, I have a very strong feeling I will be going to prison...

And that would be after bringing up the fact that he killed a person with his vehicle drunk-driving in Boston in his rookie season.

How can a person get such a high-profile position after something like that???

Definitely wouldnt happen in todays highly-volatile media...

Can you imagine if 'Melo had killed someone when he was DWI the other day?? The internet would explode.

And yet because this happened in the early 80's, its basically a non-issue.

Gotta be honest if you killed someone while driving impaired, I wouldnt hire you to serve burgers much less be the face of a franchise by being the Head Coach.

Does anyone else hate their management/coach/assistant coaches??

Or even someone else's team?

I just want to hear other people tell me incompetent leaders stories so I dont feel so ****ing bad about the Oils chances next year.

That doesn't really make sense to me... You say things are all looking positive going forward, but really you still have two major major problems. #1 Goaltending. #2 Coaching. Don't try to tell me that Garon is a #1 either cause its clear he doesnt have the stamina. At best he's a 1A.

Anyways, why should we be hoping to hell about anything? I don't care who you got on your team right now. If his name isn't Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin or maybe Evgeni Malkin then he's got nothing on Jarome Iginla - and as long as Iginla is leading this team, we're going to be a force.

Last I checked Iginla has 5 more years in Calgary during his prime to lead us. He's the best leader in the game bar none. PPG player in the playoffs, prototypical crash and bang player who has more skill than anyone on your team even has in potential.

Keep that word in mind. Potential. What we have is what you are hoping your guys turn into. So I think it's you that should be hoping. Last I checked 5 foot 10 players don't generally have incredible playoff records. Nilsson, Gagner, Cogliano, even Hemsky is small. Sure you got Penner and a couple other 3rd line plugs with size but none of your top end players are going to produce in the playoffs if they run into a team like us, Anaheim, even SJ now has your number. I'm not scared of the Oilers at all.

i say only one problem: coaching

Calgary was built to succeed this year, and as a #7 seed, with a very-very outside chance at the cup, even the Calgary beat writers started the playoffs by saying that noone really has grandiose plans of thinking that Calgary will win the cup this year..

My point is Edmonton has exactly what the flames hope to have, a future (oh yeah and 5 times as many Stanley Cups)

Ok, one goalie on my list was "up for debate". But if you asked me last year who I'd rather have 'tending my team between Garon and Theodore... Its a no brainer. Theodore.

.891 sv % vs .907 and .894 the year before for Garon... Sure Garon had a bit better numbers but was largely unproven, and still is. Throw in the fact Theodore has won a Vezina and was playing on a noticeably bad, non playoff, poor defensive team, yeah I'd still take Theodore knowing that he at least has it in him to be a top goalie.

If you factor in his salary, then no, I wouldnt.

You still havent admitted that theres no way in hell Garon is even a top 20 goalie in this league. Its obvious.
