I think we would want to leave it as minutes....you don't want to penalize a GM because the sim keeps pulling the backup when you put him in. BluesGM wrote:
There is also the question of whether the rule should apply to minutes played or games played, a handful of goalies went over the 72 game limit, but all stayed under the maximum minutes played....
if that could get cleared up, it would help clear up some confusion....
It is so easy, all we do is say that NO GOALIE can play more than 72*60 = 4320 minutes. It solves all the issues.
If Lundqvist plays all game every game for the first half of the season with one team and they then trade him away, the team getting him must realize he can only play so many more minutes.
Once a goalie reaches 4320 minutes, he should be suspended for the duration of the season to ensure he doesn't get into any more games.
We could have a "goalie games cop" similar to a salary cop so that Eric doesn't have to track this himself.
Done, done and done. Man I am smart.
P.S. GO HABS GO! OLE... OLE, OLE, OLE... OLE... OLE (NHL)
ole ole ole right out the door the big Z will continue to stimmy the euro-french habs..
boston 3-1 tonight..
ps i like the base of your idea.. but i think a 75-76 game limit would be more likely.. nabokov-brodeur 77 each- miller-kipper- 76, loungo 73, lundqvist 72 this season in the nhl..
having a star goalie shouldnt be punished. but 82 games is crazy.. i think a 75-76 game limit would be more suitable..
