RE: Back up minutes

If that is the ruling on this issue, then I think we should scrap the rule entirely...

"It has occurred in other leagues that GMs abuse the salary cap by paying to have a star goaltender and than paying league minimums for a poorly rated backup goalie who does not play any minutes. It is unrealistic that a goalie would start every game in an 82 game schedule and to ensure all teams share their duties this rule is in place."

The ruling on this issue and the description of why it is there don't make sense when you look at them both.

The rule is so that guys should attempt to have a decent rated back up and play them. Why is this other stuff being brought out?

Who are you talking about Kirk?  I don't think it is a problem for someone to bring up a rule, and even suggesting if the rule isn't doing what it is supposed to, then to get rid of it.

Personally, I would bring it up in the BRHL as well if it was an issue.  (Which isn't for money. biggrin)

Rules are meant to be enforced. If Bryce and Eric didn't think the rule was important they would have never added it.

For the record Kirk, I can't think of a single person who takes this league more seriously than you. It's not a bad thing, it's a good thing- but dont act like you're this easy going/ in it for the fun of it type guy. :D

i do take the league seriously yes luke. but i leave it in the BRHL2. i dont hold grudges based on what someone did or said to me in FHL.. where i know for a fact their are guys in this league who dislike ME- REX- Aaron etc etc because of what we have posted on this board.. What im saying is how can this be???? its FHL???? not LIFE!!!!!!

like i said i do take it serious but i dont sit around and investigate teams to see if anyone is breaking the rules... as i stated before it has nothing to do with this thread or whose posting in it just in GENERAL, it seems like alot of guys are very extreme (in opinions toward other deals not even involving them.. like ohhh this shouldnt be aloud,, or ohhh this isnt fair,, etc etc,,) and i think the reason is because some of the g.m's think because THEY pay THEY can post what they want.. Like i said i think people take this league too serious and take it into their lives..

NJ also has fulfilled back up minutes. I had Kiprussoff for 20 some games early in the season before I traded him.

based on this ruling, this rule should just be scrapped.  what's the point in the rule if a team can just use two different starters by trading half way through the season?

If you read the rule, it is to keep a guy from making his number one guy play all the games and have a decent back up.  This ruling make the rule ineffective.  I agree if it isn't going to be enforced it should be scrapped.

There is also the question of whether the rule should apply to minutes played or games played, a handful of goalies went over the 72 game limit, but all stayed under the maximum minutes played....

if that could get cleared up, it would help clear up some confusion....
