Not satisfied with the run of results that the Blues have posted over the past 20 games, the Blues GM Gareth Evans came upon a deal that he couldn't resist. The deal offered him an upgrade for this season, with the chance to improve for next.
The deal was:
To St Louis: Chris Drury, Daymond Langkow, David Vyborny To Calgary: Patrick Marleau, Jamie Langenbrunner, Danius Zubrus
"It was hard parting with Patty [Marleau], he's a quality player, but we felt that for next season he wouldn't be able to put up numbers equal to the money we would be paying him. Instead we get Drury signed for a respectable amount of money that will see him on our top line for years to come. Daymond Langkow has emerged as a great two way player and is also signed long-term at a good contract. Vyborny will suffer in ratings for next year, but provides sound defense and is an excellent playmaking forward." Was the official statement given by GM Gareth Evans.
Injury Update: Saku Koivu is expected back within a week, and will take up position as the 2nd line center once he returns.
