Oil vs Nucks

How many people caught this game last night? 2 of my least favorite teams, but the entertainment value was pretty high. Sam Gagner looked so tiny in that fight haha, I love that guy.

Caught the highlights as it was played at 4am my time... some cheap shots, the worst being staios on burrows for the empty net goal... but it seemed like a great playoff type atmosphere in the rink....

Saw the 3rd period. Looked to be a good game. Burrows shouldn't celebrate an EN goal and had it coming. I'd be surprised if the coaches aren't fined.

Watched the whole game.  Both teams played damn hard all night, very good game if you like rough hockey (who doesn't).  Very few cheap shots all night.  The Staois slash on Burrows being an exception (and then Burrows slash on Stoll, but after stoll crosschecked him well after the goal, so tit for tat).  Other than that, lots of fights good hockey action both ways, big hits, great game.
I highly doubt the coaches will be fined.  Neither guy sent anyone out to do anything specific, it was all with the flow and emotion of the game.  As well, if you watched the whole game you would fully expect and accept Burrows to celebrate the EN to seal the game.  And the Staois slash was BEFORE the EN was scored.  The Stoll cheapshot was while he was celebrating.

How did Burrows have it coming?  He put his arms up thats far from anything that deserved getting punched well after the whistle.

Show me where he pumped his fists AT Stoll he put his hands in the air, on a good hustle play by a guy that doesn't score many goals, in one hell of a hard fought game.  He deserved to be happy and putting his arms in the air is far from riding his stick down center ice or any other excesive celebration.

If you want to see someone pump their fists at a player, go to you tube and look up Ryan Shannon's goal from a few nights ago. Bulin gives him a shot in the back of the head and then Shannon turns and pumps his fists at the goalie.

A two handed slash is hockey?  Staois was frustrated from being made look stupid repeatedly all night, he took it out on Burrows by slashing him.
Also, Burrows was facing a different direction than Stoll.  Stoll went out of his way to cross-check Burrows while he celebrated the insurance goal in a hard fought game.

staios slash happened before he scored... it was a stupid play from a veteran defenseman...

from what i saw and have heard from post game interviews, stolls point is and was "act like youve been their before" a little bush league to stand in their crease and try and celebrate an EN goal..

But it wasn't like he walked in from the blue line and tapped in an easy empty netter, he had to hustle to the front of the net with an Oiler all over him in what was a VERY emotional game.  This was far from your typical empty netter.

I guess anyone one the canucks would say, act like you've lost before. Obviously he was happy, the game wasn't over yet by any means and it was a hard fought win. He didnt AO the goal or anything he just put his hands in the air. THe crease is of little consequence also because there was no goalie in the net to show up.

I thought Staios and Moreau were classless all game- however, I was happy to see it because it made a good game..haha
