Just a reminder

Loaning / Swapping / Renting players is illegal in the BRHL2.  GMs aren't allowed to trade players this season, and swap them back in the off-season.

It is considered collusion, and GMs who are found guilty of this from this point on will be fired immediately with their payout left at my driveway for a personal pick up :).  Ok joking about the last part, but this is a serious offense.

ha.

To some of the GMs who are trying to do the rentals, don't take this personally.  However, this is just something that needs to be nipped in the butt. Before it starts looking a Rent-a-Center (no pun intended).

sorry, i didn't see it in the league rules page under trading so i thought it would be legal....

it is done in the nhl, which was why i thought i could get away with it...

It was something left out of the rules by error.  However, it was discussed last year on the board.

It's more of a reminder from this point on.

As well as renting players in the NHL is usually harder to do, plus it typically only happens with 1 player per team. Rather than a handful of players.

It's something that will no longer exist in the BRHL2.

Does anyone have a good example of it happening in the NHL?  Sure, UFAs are traded and maybe resign with the old team in the summer.  But I am not sure I can think of an example of a player being traded to a team and then traded back after the playoffs?

Don't lie, Eric.  That was TOTALLY PUN INTENDED!!!

so say youve made a deal and had planned on swapping them back in the offseason. so what happens now?? like can they still be swapped in the offseason or is it going to be a fine or punishment?

I also didn't know it was an official rule. I would assume that any "Gentlemen's agreement" that exists would still be up to the GM's to carry out. (One think I know of in BRHL that has been stated is that there is no league mandate to enforce these agreements.....sorry to bring it up, but if the other GM screws you....tough luck.  Not that I would ever do it...but some GMs...you never know.)

The league will probably from this point forward see a player traded then traded back to the original team in the offseason.

I remember vaguely Geoff Sanderson being a guy in the NHL that was traded like that. I also have heard that Burke took on Marchant as a "favour" to Columbus for trading for Fedorov.

Either way, as long as the league is firm at this point in instituting a rule forbidding the "gentlemen's agreement" of trading a player back to his original team, I am fine with it.

I think the real problem of having Gentlemen's agreements in this league is the lack of Gentlemen in it.

I like the new rule.

As for an example? What about Dean McAmmond with the Flames before their big cup run? He was suspended for the season because he was dealt away and then reacquired. Not sure if this is the same thing but the league sure didnt allow him to play for us because of it.
