In an attempt keep up with moves made by other top teams in the NHL, the Buffalo Sabres have agreed to terms with division rivals-the Ottawa Senators. The Sabres have acquired LW Vyacheslav Kozlov from the Senators for RFA Ladislav Nagy and Floridas 4th round pick in the upcoming draft.
GM of the Sabres Luke Wile explains the reason for the move, "As you know Ladislav has been vocal about his displeasure in regards to his role on the team, and weve been looking for a while to bring in a veteran Winger to play along side Sid and Havy before the playoffs."
Vyacheslav Kozlov bring 15 years of experience to one of the youngest clubs in the entire league. He also brings an assortment of offensive assets that would make any team jealous heading into the playoffs.
The Sabres feel like the timing of this move is significant. "We didnt want to bring in a guy right at the deadline- we want Slava to acclimate himself to the organization. I think hell feel right at home", Wile explains.
Kozlov is excited about the opportunity to play on a very talented Sabres squad, "Ive played with some very good players in my 15 years in the league, but rarely does a guy get a chance to play with guys in the same caliber as Sidney and Martin."
One thing is certainly clear, if it wasnt already, the Sabres mean business heading into the post season.
