question with tags..

with the kevin lowe and mario tags do the players get tagged at what their rerate will be for next season??

example staios- currently at 75 with 1 yr on deal.. ---say for some reason he score 15 goals and 40 assists after the allstar break and rerate 78 can i use my lowe tag on him?

thats kinda the whole point kirk...

thats why i have considered brunette the perfect lowe tag asset, for a very long time. At a 76 OV player with 1 year left, and over the re-signability age, and at only 800k overall.

Last season Legace was an 78 OV, but he rerated down to a 76 OV so I was able to use my Lowe tag on him.   That's how it worked last year at least.....

Last year players were tagged midseason, which by simple logic tells us they are tagged based on their current year's rating.

By the looks of the Dallas post, he waited until seasons end to tag...Buffalo says we tag mid-season...
Can we get some clarification?

Tags can be "assigned", but are not applied till the off-season when re-rates come out. Since they require for teams to have the player be on their squad for the previous year, that is a reason why we wait till the off-season. And since we wait till the off-season, the tags then correspond to the players newest ratings prior to them reaching UFA status.

Kurt's gotta learn howto read a rulebook

C)      Lemieux tag players are 77ov or higher during the season BEFORE they become unrestricted.

Not with a Lowe tag I can't, but I can with the mario tag (assuming he rerates up)

I think we should scrap these tags !   We are a reality league, where in hell do tags come from ?  They are just annoying, and confusing.

i would have said scrap them to begin with , but you can 't really scrap em now...would screw over gms that have not used em..ie: Colorado

I would rather a simpler process...but I agree, "you can tag him" has come up in so many trade conversations, that it would be impossible to just scrap it now.

I would rather have each team allowed to negotiate one extension to a UFA every year or two years.  The rest hit the open market.....or something.
