It actually seems like a very cheap way to get out of the 5-year $5.3 M deal that he signed him to... Maybe there is some regret on Joe's part (seriously, is Jovo getting any better?) and having him suspended resulting in having the contract wiped from the books is what he ultimately wanted.
Should he not be forced to buy him out as well or at least pay some penalty? If I was Jovo, I'd be pretty pissed to be losing out on the last 4 years of my deal ($21.2M)...

That is a bit of a loophole in the system, but to be honest I bet Jovo get's near that amount again next year. So no loss to him... perhaps starting next year there should be a financial penalty as well... but not sure, in many instances it'd be like kicking a guy when he's down to get a financial penalty and lose his top player...
Hey boys, I wasnt trying to cheaply get rid of JOVO. He's one of my top 3 favorite players to watch as well as being my top player in brhl. I had sent in a request to have Marcel Hossa and his 69ov dropped to farm to create room for the Gomez deal which I had just made within the past 24hrs. I also had 2 other deals very close to going through which would have dropped an additional 6 million as well as a deal with ATL that I thought was going to be processed as well. With the ATL deal I guess I jumped the gun a little and sent the deal in prematurely, so I take the blame for that one, but my understanding at the time was that the deal was all set, and my 200 dollar cap situation was all set.
Trust me, there is a reason I went after JOVO, I love the guy and built my team around him. I just hope Eric can fix it, and I sincerely appologize for the confusion and commotion it caused.
You guys all know me and know that i'm not some scammer or someone that doesnt pay attention to my team. I spend around 7 hrs a day doing fantasy stuff and around 5 hrs at least on BRHL. Just like Tampay Bay's situation with SUNDIN last week, both he and I arent out to scam anyone, its honest mistakes that were made and should be restored back to normal just like Tampa.
Honestly, I think it does. I think it paints a bad image of a GM who does it on purpose. Also, if someone wants to do that early in the season... I doubt it. Near the end of the season... maybe. But the league does on it.

Good to know. Also, I know Joe didn't do it on purpose. I've been watching that situation for a while and hes been close many times. It wasn't like all of a sudden one day he went over the cap.

It happened to me once in the BRHL1 when I got confused on when my teams games were being played, and I had a guy coming off IR. I didn't make the changes, and played a game over the cap. I took the penalty in stride and didn't complain an ounce, even though it hurt my team. ...I know I'm a rrrreeeeeaaaalllll saint.

Don't think that Rangers did this on purpose at all, but now that the potential loophole has been noticed, maybe we should look into modifying the rule for next season.
The way I see it, we don't want people getting out of bad contracts when they are close to the cap, but we need a way to figure out when it is just a salary dump and not a punishment.
How about when a player is waived for cap reasons he is actually put on waivers.... if one team claims the player they get him if more than one team claims him then he is suspended and becomes a free agent at year's end. If nobody wants him, he stays on the roster and the team is fined or punished otherwise.
That way if somebody claims the player it is probably not a dump, since there was another team willing to take on the contract.
