What is the Rule with respect to Prospect Creation?

All we have in our rules is the following:

VIII. Prospects

A. All prospects must be created into the BRHL if they have played over 50 NHL games - OR- if they are 23 years old or older as of June 1st, of the current year.

B. All entry contracts will be for 3 years, the only exception is when a player is 29 years old at time of creation he signs a 2 year deal, when 30 he signs a 1 year deal and any older than 30 he signs a 4 year deal. The reason being a team should have the rights of a drafted player of theirs for as long as possible.

C. To create a prospect, send it in using this format: Name / Height / Weight / Contract $$$ / Age & Nationality / Relevant Statistics / Links to reputable sources assessing the prospects talent.

I note there is no mention made of a player having to play in the AHL or NHL in the prior season in order to qualify as a prospect eligible for creation.  As such, I think we need to clarify this.  If we are going to limit creation to players who have played in the NHL or AHL in the past year, what is the criteria.  Is one or two AHL playoff games enough?  Does the player have to play a minimum number of regular season games?

I really think we need to have this set in stone...

Perhaps we can just add a subsection (d) that deals with eligibility...

Why? Create any of your prospects but the sooner you do the sooner the entry level contract will end. And if the prospect hasn't played significantly in the AHL or NHL then you get a 50 OV player who is no good at any level of competition.

but if you get the three year contract out of way u can lock up a kid like hanzal for 5 years and this before he is a 77-78 and wants 4+ mill for that 5 year deal... gets his learning years out of way with his cheap deal and bad rates but then get him lockked up long term at 71-73 and he could only be a 2.5 mill dolllasr 5 yr deal like a stephen weiss kinda situation..ps i see hanzal and weiss very similar players anyone else?

It's a risk though.....you sign him for three years now, and if he breaks out next year you won't save any money, but will have lost two years off of his rookie contract (this year and next) before you get the good ratings, and still don't save any money off of the next contract.

Sorry the stipulation should be in there (and I thought it was) That they must have played at least ECHL or NHL in the prior season to get ratings. Thats why Price coudl be created where Bernier couldn't

We will get that amended, thanks for pointing that out Rob.
