If you are looking for veterans for a playoff run and want to take advantage of the rules (including tag assets) then there are:

Ray Whitney - One of the best Lemieux assets in league with 1.5 mil contract and unreal rates (except ST, IT, DF which leaves his OV much less than he sims offensively) :) Check this guys preseason stats in the FHL, he is a terror!

Daniel Tjarnqvist - Incredible rates for this year. PC, DF, EN of a top player.

Filip Kuba - Underrated dman in both NHL and FHL, this guys has good rates for a 4-6 dman this year and could very easily rerate higher next season.

Ethan Moreau - Guy makes 2.75 mil/ year in NHL and is a captain-type player. If he stays healthy he could rerate similar to what axelsson is this season.

Marty Reasoner - Nice rates for a 3rd or 4th C with good DF, and other peripheral rates..

Steve Montador - Played 72 games with Florida last NHL year and looks to take a larger DF role on the team this season. For a team with playoff aspirations, this guy may be 71-72 OV next year because of already high ST, IT ratings.

OR IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN GETTING SOME YOUTH, ELITE PROSPECTS, TOP 40 PICKS, ETC... then there are:

Justin Pogge - With Raycroft and Toskala both struggling to start the preseason for the NHL club, Pogge could see action by the end of the season. Most likely a starter next year though.

Nikolai Zherdev - Although some bash his play in the preseason, he has nowhere else to play except top 6 forward role on the club, and I believe will have a bounce-back year playing with a motivated club that finished the end of last season strong.

Dany Sabourin - MA Fleury's back-up in Pittsburgh with no real threat for the back-up role in sight... Is 1 injury away from being a young 30+ game winner because of crosby.

Van 1st - Likely in the 14-22 area right now.
LA 2nd - Top 50 pick.
