There are reports circulating that Guy Carbonneau's tenure as coach of the Chicago Blackhawks could be coming to an end after yesterday's blow up with winger JP Dumont.
Sources indicate that when Carbonneau presents his plans for the this season of the franchise in front of the Management of the team , he will have to really impress his bosses in order to keep his job.
Guy should treat this meeting very seriously, the source said. There are people on the team who want him out. He doesnt have everyones support, by any means.
When asked about the situation, General Manager George Bachul, a believed ally of Carbonneau's, scoffed at the idea that the coach will be let go if he does not wow the management team.
No, Guy has a contract offer, and were constantly looking at ways to improve and get better, but he is our coach and thats where were at, Bachul said.
This is simply a meeting that was planned a year in advance. Were meeting with all the coaches and get a feel for how we can move forward more effectively. Assess holes in our line up and move towards future success. Well hear what plans they have to get us closer to the BRHL2 Championship.
However, word around the BRHL is that GM David Yee, and has already spoken with potential contenders to replace Carbonneau." In some circles, the players have voiced some concerns over Carbonneau's ability to coach the team to the Championship. "With all the turnover on the team, maybe Guy isn't the right guy. He might be good to teach some kids, but he isn't the guy to put you over the top." said an unnamed source.
