The North East will be the best division in the league, but I don't see any way that the Rangers win the division championship.

I think the Islanders are a lock for 5th place, and the Pens are the favorite to win it, but 2-4 is completly up for grabs

The Rangers have better players, but will they gel? And, who's going to play defense?

The Devils lost talent, but that seems to be the story every year. They are a threat (a very, very boring threat) every year until proven otherwise (that is, until Brodure retires or dies between the pipes)

The Flyers were the worst team in the game last season, but brought in more talent than any other team. They will be alot better.

I can't wait, should be a great year for hockey.

I assume you mean the Atlantic division

lol... same point applies

Nolan's boys hasn't gotten the respect they deserve

the team without Yashin will be better by subtraction (especially having no go-to player on offense meaning everyone will work hard to chip in, with great goaltending and worldclass effort to mean plenty of very close games)

The West is wide open. But I think DET / ANA are 1-2.  Nashville's performance will change the landscape of the playoffs. If they're out, I could see 5 teams from the North West make it. Edmonton stinks, yes. But they can't face as many injuries as they did last year. Plus, MacT alternates years in which he likes to take his team to the playoffs.  Dallas could make it, as I put them in the same position as the Islanders. Not the best team. But they both have great goaltenders (Never count them out).  St. Louis and Chicago should make improvements. With, again, the better teams being in the West.

The East is even more wide open. As I think there are only 2 certainties - OTT and CAR will win their divisions. The Atlantic is tough, aside from Philly, each team has a top tier goalie. I think that NYR and PIT are more poised to end near the top of the league. Both teams didn't build their team this year through FA, only added key pieces. So I don't plan on them missing a step. The South East will be the same. Atlanta will pound in goals, as will Washington. Florida won't be any better, despite getting Vokoun. The surrounding cast isn't anything a playoff team is made of.  The Wild card is NYI, MTL and TOR. I think there is room for only 1. I think that MTL will find out who their goalie is, and give a reason for their top players to show up and play. NYI has a great goaltender and a strong system. As much as I hate to say it, this team is a serious dark horse. Toronto, they seem to have the pieces. But same ole Leafs. I'm only suspecting BUF with #8 because I think they'll hit a dry spell at some point and it will affect their placement.

SJ time to shine in the West. They will battle with Det for the President trophy. I think the Blues make big strides this year and just slip into the playoffs after battling with EDM and DAL down the wire.

In the East, Ottawa is the powerhouse there (kills me to say it) They pretty much have the same team as last which will help. PIT has matured and should be very good. Just like Ian, I see the Atlantic being the best division with NJ, PHI and NYR filling the middle of the standings. TOR added a goalie and a scoring threat which will push them into a spot. BUF lost a lot of talent and will lose more division games but take the 8th spot.

I think I'm the only one with Florida in the playoffs-trust me, it's going to happen...

Dumb prediction #1

Depends on Vokoun. He didn't look great last year towards the end and has a much weaker team in front of him this year.

The season hasn't started yet.

If Sam Gagne actually plays 10 games to start the season this year then I bet he's a Calder finalist: he has looked absolutely ready to shine, impressed at the superseries and his offseason training has been second to none.

Not sure when the last time an 18 year old was in the calder finalists aside from SC. When was the last time? Im a fan of Gagne, but I think its unlikely at best.
