All I can say Kirk, is that you were not a part of the negotiations, so you do not have any clue as to why or how any player signed aside from your own.
Nor will I divulge that information.
Aside from that, I will say the amount of hypocrisy thrown around by the same GMs is pretty "interesting" involving contracts.

all im hoping for is that their is no *NEGOCIATION* and that their is some kinda SET FORMULA or something to take the *JUDGEMENT* out of rfa signings so that we all work under the same restrictions...
All the pennypinchers (not Kirk, ) of the league will be happy to know that their offers to UFAs raised the market for players in general. Should be an interesting time.
So yeah there is a formula, there always has been. But there is an act of negotiaion that takes place.

I thought you expected a bit of penny pushing- when I asked you last year you said you encouraged it.
To some extent I do. but when there are some offers of 5 years for 450k, then there are some exceptions. There isn't going to be those offers excepted, nor will a follow up offer of 5 years for 475k. I'm never going to go into specifics. I just would hope you guys have a good base of Hockey / FHL common knowledge. There's going to be give and take. Yes trying to sign players for cheap is ultimate, but being smart about it is better. I appreciate the fair GMs who didn't waste time trying to sign Players. I also appreciate the fair GMs who tried to play the system in trying to sign players (all under the rules) to lower contracts but when they received a counter offer that was significantly higher than what they originally offered, smartened up and understood that they would have to make up the difference somewhere.
I understand that it's the first year, so I'm happy to be lenient. Nothing personal about it. But at the same time, there is a healthy give and take. Pennypinching now will lead to splurging later.
As far as the formula. The BOD doesn't know the formula. However, they have been able to devise limits on offers on an unspoken formula. They, for the most, understand the market and know what is to be done to sign a player for x years / x amount.
P.S. I'm sorry to some GMs who've tried to contact me lately in delayed responses. I'm been completely drained over the past month. So please excuse my 100% attentiveness. Thanks.

Kirk, and Luke and Aaron, I don't get into the mudslinging, the kind that GMs bring up when they are tired of certain teams whining, or other teams continual low ball offers and raping of other teams, but personally, don't you think at times, that when something doesn't go your way, all the griping eventually just sounds like sour grapes?
Buffalo, never have I publicly attacked anything you have done, and Kirk, when others hate your tactics, I have supported you.
If you guys really have a problem, shouldn't you just email the league, because at some point, all the other GMs just tune you out?
Is SJ, MIN, MON, NAS, OTT or any other team griping? Nope. Always the same guys.
Like I said, the moment it looks like someone else is doing well, only a few teams seem to come out of the woodwork and complain. One team makes a solid move, and then a few guys like to attack it.(And now, not even about rules or anything...but a couple good RFA deals. Like OMFG, Chris Kelly signed a two year $675K deal in the BRHL2, half of what he did on a one year deal in the NHL.....I need to make an issue of this....Tim Connolly signed a 1 year $1.1 million deal in the BRHL2 BUT previously was signed for $8.7 M on a three year deal in the NHL....really, do I need to pick apart every good deal that has been signed in the BRHL?)
Well, I don't worry about other teams and their issues. I let Eric and Bryce worry about that. If a team gets screwed over in a trade, I let Eric and Bryce worry about that. If a guy had a good negotiation and has a good deal signed with the agent....my opinion...is good on him.
Do we have a competitive advantage in Chicago? Hopefully Dave and I knowing our **** is advantage enough.
But again, the few, the vocal minority, whose loud complaining has pretty much silenced any other GM and their willingness to get involved in any other conversation should consider this.
If you got a problem, you know the league email. But the next time you want to complain about something publicly, maybe before you hit enter, just think about it.....and pause. And then think if it would be better suited to email Eric. Pause again....and if it really isn't a big deal.....do nothing.
I swear if I see one more post from people bitching about how guys signed, how this trade was allowed, how everyone is cheating, how everyone is getting ripped off, how everything is unfair I am going to just start firing people on the spot.
Eric's getting burnt out, experienced GMs are tuning teh messageboard out because some GMs have nothing better to do that bitch about every little thing that they don't like or agree with. So here's the deal.
You don't like it, leave, now, I'll reimburse your money right now, if you want to take the offer, post here by Monday morning saying you want out.
Otherwise, make another crack like some of the ones I've read above, and apparently some of the ones I missed while away. And you won't be compensated just fired. Otherwise let Eric and I run the league, we've proven we can and know how. If you disagree, go.
