New York Rangers proudly brought in star stud defenseman Zybenek Michalek who they'd been after since day 1 last year. The Rangers have quietly put together a solid core of defenseman. Call it a defense factory if you will now with the likes of Jovanovski/Michalek Hamrlik/Tallinder Morris/Skoula and Ranger/Babchuk/Pock as up and comers to make difference soon as well.
Going to Boston were Erik Christensen who was penciled to play center on the 3rd line but with the recent aquisition of Mikael Samuelsson, he became somewhat expendable. Johan Franzen was also moved along with Maxim Lapierre, both are 4th liners who can and will be replaced. A 4th round pick came to the Rangers but was quickly dealt to Chicago along with Randy Jones for stud youngster Lukas Kaspar who is set to make a huge impact this year.
