I hope that guys don't hack on other guys for the way they run their teams...because personally, I don't care....I am just curious about philosophy.

What type of team do you run.....what is your management style?

For me, and I think that Dave is the same....we don't like change for change sake.  If we have all the pieces we want, then likely we wouldn't make too many moves unless we felt like it improved our team.   Very similar to an NHL team.

I personally don't mind keeping my team the same for months to see how things develop.  My curiosity is that there are some GMs that make lots of moves, some that make some, and some that make little.....

Which one are you?

I had to say other....I will make a lot of moves to try to get the team where I want, but once I am happy with my team I slow down a lot. Right now I am in wholesale change mode, but if things go well I will be in keep it mostly the same by this time next year.

If I can improve my team while not destroying the future I would move anyone at anytime, but for the most part I would say I keep my team mostly the same with a needed shakeup every once in a while depending on how the previous season ended.

I voted "Stay the course"

I have young core of players...my priority is keeping them together as long as I can and watch their ratings improve over time

Keep the core and compliment them with UFAs....thats how I build my team

Ok boys, you all know me as the wheeling and dealing trade whore, but I'm here to say although I selected "wholesale changes" it was to help boost that column with my buddy kirk in Atlanta.   In all honesty I'm very much a stay the course type of guy WHEN I have my ideal team..........That said I'm not there yet so I'll be hard at work every day trying to get there.   Ideally I like all youth and watch them grow but I found myself in a strage situation this summer with having too much youth that I wouldnt be able to keep thus resulting in going for some top players to compliment the youngsters with the likes of my 1st line (Kariya/Fisher/Williams) along with 4 solid dmen in (Jovo/Hammer/Morris/Tallinder.  Lastly a solid 1-2 punch in goal with Thomas/Holmqvist

No team was as little a player during UFA as Chicago.

My team signed ten UFA and bid on two others to end an active offseason for the NYI. On top of that I did more trades than anyone last season (Columbus-Matt was just one trade behind). But the fun of trading is being tempered with team plans.

The NYI hasn't traded much in the last few weeks and doesn't plan to for the next couple of months. (Unless a blockbuster deal is done, in which case the fun of trading will continue!)

The team is at a crossroads: stand still for a while or keep on trading.

Time will tell.

( But boy is trading fun nod.gif )

that is generally 100% my philosophy as well. I took over this team and have made quite a few trades, and usually do that when I first take over a team. but once I get the assets I want I will sit back and watch my team and for the most part only talk trade if someone put a guy on the block I wouldn't mind.

Trading might be fun, but winning is a little bit better.

I don't have time to trade. But I'm patient by nature. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

When I get a new team, i will be very active making changes.

Once I get a team where I want, I am very, very patient. Like right now, my roster is guys who I a)like as players, b)am waiting to see how their NHL seasons will go, or c) have so little trade value it's not worth my time.

I am quite patient and am not planning on winning anything this season. If i make the playoffs, thats great, but realisticly my chance for success will come in the next 1-3 years with the current players I have. And, I have no problem waiting on them.

So, in other words, QUIT ASKING FOR GETZLAF AND VANEK!!!!!!
