General Manager Rich Epstein has named the Florida Panthers captain and assistant captains for the 2007-8 season. Defenseman Jay McKee, a hard hitting stay at home defenseman, has been named the captain. Young forward Justin Williams will be one of the assistant captains, while newly signed defenseman Keith Carney will be the other. While McKee and Carney were chosen because of the fact that they are already on-ice leaders who set a great example on the ice for the younger players, Justin Williams was chosen because on a team lacking in top forwards, Williams will need to be the leader of the unit. The team expressed confidence that Williams can step up and be that leader.
