team x puts offer in on a FA, in meantime makes a trade putting them closer to cap than before they made the offer. does offer for FA get voided as it will put team over the cap restrictions?
I would say no as when the offer was made the team was cap compliant, and what if the offer has already been reflected on the free agent page... it's poor form to make such a move, but I don't believe it's unacceptable.
That said, if your guys sign and you go over the 47 million, you should be punished accordingly.
- A GM may not 'conditionally' bid on a player. In other words a GM cannot bid on player A & B; sign player A and then cancel the bid on player B. Each GM is responsible for their offers; attempting to sign someone that puts you over the cap will result in you losing that player and being fined ($500,000)
I think the responsible part is contingent towards trades as well. Its just lazy/poor management to put yourself in that position. You should know where you're at and if you go outside that threshhold, then yes, I think you should receive the above fine as well.
