Rookie of the year?

Who do you guys think are the faves for this award next year?  This is the first time in a little while that the NHL doesnt have a clear cut favorite or two for the award in a few years.

from our team I think the following have legitimate shots at the award:

Erik Johnson
Jonathan Toews
Kristopher Letang
Igor Grigorenko
Devin Setoguchi
Josh Harding (unlikely unless Backstrom gets injured)
Francois Bouchard (another long shot)

Its always tough to say, but I think if a guy like Setoguchi can get in a good position with JT's line, he could be lights out. Our top 4 should play significant roles on each of their respective clubs next season.

good question

i'll comment on the possibilities after rookies make it out of training camp next month, as many will be sent back down for developmental purposes

which potential rookies are on one-way contracts? not many

I think right now it's gotta be between EJ and Toews and Backstrom.

I think Nicklas Backstrom is an outside shot. Early reports have him adjusting OK, but not super to the smaller rink.

My darkhorse is Jack Johnson.

Although I don't think Bobby Ryan has a shot at the calder, he is a good pick for a darkhorse.
Ryan is horrible, but so is Penner and he scored 29 goals playing with Getzlaf and Perry (which is where Ryan has a shot of fitting in if he makes the team).

Jack Jack will win it..

darkhorse = clarke mcarthur..

does 19 nhl games still make him a rookie for this year?

I think the battle will be amont the johnson's and backstrom.. with outside shots being grigorenko..  however one guy so far that hasn't been mentioned.. and i do believe he makes this NHL club. but will fall flat on his face cause he will have no support. is Peter Mueller.. watch for this guy to really have a hard rookie season in the NHL if he sticks. cause phoenix is no where near contending just yet.

Yeah, Mueller will more than likely make the NHL, you're right. I really like Mueller too, I think on a better team he'd have a decent shot at it for sure. Who knows though, people said the same about Kopitar last year in LA and that whole team had a decent offensive year.
