Sunday, August 19 @ 12:00:01 PM EST time the BRHL2 Free Agency will begin. (Sunday Afternoon Eastern Time).
Players who have not been signed will test the open market.
After the RFA / Tag Deadline has passed, a list of the Free Agents will be posted either on the main page, or there will be a link directing you to the list on the main page.
Here are some of the rules:
- You may bid on as many players as you'd like, as long as you maintain that all your offers keep you cap compliant.
- Ranking the bids are based on average money offered per year. Highest bid is determined the leader. [(Salary Offered x Years Offered) + Signing Bonus] / Years Offered = Money Offered / 1 Year EXAMPLES: [($5,125,000 x 3) + $4,000,000] / 3 = $6,458,334 / Year [($3,050,000 x 5) + $7,625,000] / 5 = $4,575,000 / Year
- Maximum signing bonus that can be offered is 50% of the total salary offered. You do not have to offer the max signing bonus. EXAMPLES: Joe Smith is offered - 4 years, $2,300,000. The max SB is $4,600,000. $2,300,000 x 4 = $9,200,000. 50% of $9,200,000 (total salary offered) = $4,600,000
Rick White is offered - 3 years, $1,100,000. The max SB is $1,650,000 $1,100,000 x 3 = $3,300,000. 50% of $3,300,000 (total salary offered) = $1,650,000
- You receive a $300,000 bonus for team loyalty. Therefore, if Steve Reed ended the season on your team. You will get an additional $300,000 added onto the Money Offered / Year. You will not be charged the $300,000, but will receive it as a league induced bonus. With a Loyalty Bonus: [($3,050,000 x 5) + $7,625,000] / 5 = $4,575,000 + $300,000 = $4,875,000 / Year
- When a team has a current leading bid on a player. It will take $200,000 from a different team to overtake as the leading bidder for the team. If a bid is not over $200,000 when you try to make a bid, it will be discarded and the current leading bid will stand.
- A GM may not 'conditionally' bid on a player. In other words a GM cannot bid on player A & B; sign player A and then cancel the bid on player B. Each GM is responsible for their offers; attempting to sign someone that puts you over the cap will result in you losing that player and being fined ($500,000)
- A leading bid will stand for 48 hours from the most recent update. If a bid is not increased in the 48 hour window, the player will sign for the amount offered.
- If by chance I am unable to make an bid end time, the last possible time I will accept a bid is the listed time on the email stamp. Please do not rely on sending bids at the last minute. I will try to update anywhere from 2-4 times a day. 2 updates will be the minimum, 4 updates will be the maximum.
- I'm asking GM's to watch (and remember) who they are bidding on. It's not my responsibility to watch over how much you have in cap space and how much you have to spend.
- No other bonuses besides the signing bonus are taken into account when determining which club the player will sign with.
- If a GM trades a recently signed free agent that signed in during the past off-season the GM must pay compensation. The fining criteria is as follows:

As far as I know, the information is as much as I can remember right now. My brain is fried from working on the RFAs nearly every waking hour of free time for the past couple days. You are welcomed to ask questions, but I will not be able to answer them until late Monday or Tuesday. If a BRHL1 GM could help answer questions on the board, I'd appreciate it. I will not have the time to keep an eye on FA questions until the RFA / Tag deadline has passed. I'm sorry but all attempts could very well be ignored.

- Due to the inability to add subjectivity to Free Agent Signings. The Highest bid offered within the correct parameters is considered King. There will be no Max offer for UFA's. As once a player were to hit a certain amount, it would be unfair for us to shut off the bidding simply because a team has the leading bid without going over the max.
Also, Expect Free Agency to run anywhere from 1-3 weeks.

Can someone (probably a BRHL1 member) answer my one question?
Here it is: Eric says "Due to the inability to add subjectivity to Free Agent Signings. The Highest bid offered within the correct parameters is considered King. There will be no Max offer for UFA's."
I just wanted to know, if this is the case, are we not following the 20% maximum rule that the NHL has? Right now under the cap, no player can make more 20% of a teams cap.
I understand why this rule would be in place, but does this mean teams can go over the 20% cap hit? Or once it reaches 20% then the signing bonus can keep going up, but not the annual salary?

The salary cap is a bit different in the BRHL1 in that respect because the salary cap is different levels and it hasn't adapted some of the newer free agency rules from the NHL yet. There is no max salary there though. Is their not something in the rules about a max 11 million salary? But no.. as far as I know thats not in place as its definetly not in the BRHL1.

Hey, whadda you know I lied, I checked here before I went to bed.
There will be no player max in signing FA's. Since it is a bidding form, we can't put a cap on it. It wouldn't be fair to the other GMs involved if they had to stop bidding because another GM is already at the cap.
bed.

That makes sense, but why dont we say once you do reach the cap that you can increase the SB to above 50%? That way we stay within CBA rules (which might cause unforeseen problems later if we dont) but GMs can continue to outbid each other.
I mean its a rare case that it happens cause theres only a handful of players in the league that should see this ever happen, but itd be nice to have this ruling in place.

Question....is this going to be strictly enforced, or will you, acting as the player's agent use discretion. For instance, will a player take a 1 year $8,0000,00 deal over a 4 year deal @ $7,500,000 per?
Note: In light of recent threads, I would like to point out I am not being critical, merely asking so that I can properly format my strongest bids. I will save my criticism for later
I was wondering a similar thing as panthers... Not sure if every year added in length to the deal should maybe add a certain percentage to the "yearly average"? Im sure a player would take the 7.5/4 compared to 8/1. Not sure if this is possible to institute and maybe should be something that would be brought in for next year after some discussion and "testing" since UFA is like a week away.
WHERE IS A LIST OF RESIGNED PLAYERS SO TEAMS CAN SIGN THEIR OWN RFA'S AND SEE THE MARKET VALUE.. PLEASE POST OR E-MAIL A LIST MR RFA AGENT.
I dont understand how this is eric and bryce's job. Make one yourself if you want to use it as a tool. Theres too many GMs that arent very self sufficient in this league.
how on earth would we be able to tell what their signing bonus's are the league is only people who know that. why cant u mind your own business buffalo? unless helping out why even comment buddy?
