actually, semin will be receiving a 2 year contract.... i should explain how i see this deal....
Malone > Boyes, Although I admit that Boyes could potentially turn out to be a great star, I like Malone, which was why I went for him.
Although Semin's got a nice contract, I am not a big fan of his. Undeniably he has talent, I just think he could turn out like Marek Svatos. Great rookie year before bombing in his sophomore year. Getting Frolov, I liked. Especially since L.A. in the NHL has brought in more talent to play with him.
Parting with Chara meant I had to fill holes, in return I get a better backup for a cheaper price which allows me to use Aebischer on the farm or possibly trade him to another team. In order to move them, I needed to fill holes which Foote and Klesla do.
Originally I did not want to part with my 1st round pick, and I did spend some time trying to get either a 2nd in return or get another player in the deal. However, out of all the offers I've had thus far, this was by far the better deal I've been offered for the two. A couple teams, won't say who, were offering one NHL player and a couple decent prospects for Semin. And Chara wasn't much better. I do admit because of the picks, it goes more in Atlanta's favour. But I disagree with me getting "raped" in this deal. I can use Malone on my second line between Langenbrunner and Antropov, I could only use Boyes as a fourth line center. Foote and Klesla means I don't have to go after a defenseman in UFA, and Bryzgalov means I get a better backup (that I prefer to Aebischer anyways) and I could use Aebischer on my farm so I get the extra cash to go after a better starting goalie.
If the BOD thinks I got raped, they can veto the trade. I wouldn't mind if it did, maybe I could talk to the Sabres and Tampa and see what they would offer me in return.
ahaha ur new hear buffalo and tampa feel everytime that a good player is moved they would have offered a much better deals. all you need to know about them is philip is a quuebecueuer (i dont know how to spell in french sorry.) and the buffalo tag team is from calgary

I love your generalizations Kirk...
In response to STL: I dont think buffalo would have offered more because we arent really interested in the players involved in the deal aside from Frolov and Semin, but I think you could have gotten a bigger return had you waited it out. I like how you broke down the deal at least. Just keep plugging away and you'll do fine.
Honestly, the trade doesn't seem that bad to me...
Boyes for Malone.... obviously I prefer Boyes, but it's not too bad. Chara for Foote & Klesla.... not a bad swap. Semin for Frolov.... I prefer Frolov, but not far off. STL #1 for Bryzgalov & ATL #3.... depending on where that pick ends up, that's pretty even too.
I think the Blues did pretty well for themselves.... I'll call it a draw.
the team traded away newly aquired brad boyes a guy the team just got back and had very very high hopes for after his amazing finish in st.louis once he admited he finally felt cofortable, the team feels giving him up might come back to haunt them as he has potential to be a 30 plus goal scorer.
the team however did recieve a nice vetern winger to help them in their cup run this season in martin erat.
the team gave up alot of potential in brad boyes similar to what happend in buffalo when zajac osullivan and other were moved in deals for players to help for this season. the team is really happy with the way its roster is shaping up.

Dont post the same message in two spots, this is annoying.
I have been pretty light all day, its just getting a little bit too much though. You dont think so? Ive been the one cracking jokes during all these heated debates.
a) fees by both teams are paid b) they are possibly looked at by the BOD
No trade is official until its been put through, and even then it may be reversed pending BOD approval --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wondering which part of this slipped through the cracks when brodeur was dealt and also wondering what was actually dealt in this deal that never should have been.
