i highly doubt that this trade would be reversed... vancouver needs to get over the minimum cap payroll and i provided him the option... do i think i won this trade? yes but there's always a side that wins and loses from someone perspective... but i also think that chicago and pittsburgh won their deals with vancouver, with new york islanders, going back a month i could pick out deals that made no sense...
so you also think that everyone else has been raping him, so you decided to get in on the action right??
lol, my quarrel isnt with you STL, so no offense your comments came off funny to me though...
i mean I wouldnt normally have a problem with allowing some of these ridiculous trades the past weeks.... but If we are gonna kick out NYI for being completely incompetent, we should at least consider some of the things that have happened with VAN the last couple weeks...
at this point its an insult to the other 20 or so active, intelligent members of this league..
why should the rest of us have to go through with this garbage???

To Atlanta- Henrik Tallinder To Phoenix- Hal Gill, Petteri Nummelin, ott 4th, 3 mill
i lose a little depth in nummelin and the pick and cash.. but in upgrading from gill who is ufa next year to tallinder who plays 21;15 a night nhl and is rfa next season. i like that i'll have a top 4 d-man for 5-6 years instead of a #5 and 7 for one or two years..
To Atlanta- Mark Parrish To Minnesota- Matt Cooke- 1 million..
getting a rfa with 13 goals already nhl for a guy who is a 3rd-4th line guy with 11 total points and some healthy scratches..
Absolute joke what is going on with some of these deals reguarding the Vancouver trades. Is there a trade committe or what? Its deals like that that ruin a league. All it takes is one deal like that and it could nulify 20 legit deals by one team. Totally unbalances the league. Where is the verdict on these things? Seems like we have enough Gm's raising concern, I vaguely counted about 15-20 gm's that have a problem with it........................... rediculous!

Joe....you are bringing up a discussion that was done in November...nothing is going on with the discussions? Vancouver was fired/left and his deals reversed. I don't know what you are questioning?
TO NYR: NYR 1ST, DAL 1ST, SABOURIN, TORRES, 4 million FROM NYR: GOMEZ, THOMAS TO PHI: COLE, CARLE, GARON FROM PHI: HEJDUK, NYR 1ST, SABOURIN, TORRES, 3 million TO DAL: HEJDUK, GOMEZ, THOMAS FROM DAL: COLE, CARLE, GARON, DAL 1ST, 1 million
Pretty fair deal. it's nice to see the trades getting closer and closer. NYR has found the joy in rebuilding- good on ya.
Of all the 3 top players in the deal, gomez, hejduk, and cole. I think Philly gave up the worst, but NYR 1 could be a good prospect if NYR drafts well.

i agree with your assessment, but i tried not to look at it in terms of which guy I was getting because originally I had set out to get gomez.
but from my assessment i got better on all three aspects of the deal for my team: garon for sabby/torres/money cole for hejduk (very, very small because of hejduks contract) carle for nyr 1st (to me this was the best part of the deal)
But it took me forever to put this deal together... and believe me, it wasnt simple...
eventually i ended up only getting dallas pieces, but nyr needed his first to move gomez for any value, and once he ok'ed the move of thomas, everything else fell into place..
A colossal amount of effort went into it and it included some huge pieces that hadnt been even considered tradable up to that point. (including nyr 1st for me)
I had a fun time putting the trade together and it has seemed to really spark some activity from around the league, as I have recieved lots of quality offers on guys I recieved in the deal, and lots of other assets I have available for trade (Zherdev, 1 of my dmen)
And I see just about everyone outside of about 5 people on ICQ regularily now-a-days.... (perhaps the other 5 teams could make themselves available on icq2go.com which is a web-page based icq program, so you dont have to download anything.)
But now I am rambling and nitpicking about other issues.

Thanks for the praise boys, I really liked this deal too and its good to see it gets the approval of our commrades as well. Like Rex said, some of the assets included in the deal were meant to never leave including Gomez and Thomas but we like the return and possibility at two studs in the draft as well as Sabourin set for a solid rerate and the GAMBLE of Torres. Personally I never liked that Albino Torres but we'll see if he turns it around.
I love seeing the activity picking up and the rest of the league making the big push toward the playoff run, its fun and exciting even for me on the outside of the playoff picture because I'll be a seller all the way until the deadline. I gave myself to the halfway point to make a run at a playoff spot and I found myself on the outside looking in which is why I changed gears yet again. No worries I'm looking for a year or two down the road anyway. I love this league and i'm not going anywhere anytime soon. Happy trading boys and you know where to find me. Peace-Joe NYRGM
to ana: zherdev, lindros, atl 3rd, ott 5th, ott 6th, ott 7th, 2 mil, brent sutter to phi: boyes, bonk, ron wilson
Essentially this becomes a 2 part debate: 1) Zherdev-Boyes Value (upside, contract, rerate) 2) Coaching Moves in mid-season
As for the first part, I consider boyes to be of much better quality than zherdev. zherdev is quite an enigmatic player and I consider goals to be worth much more than that of assists, so boyes is worth more to me there. The fact that boyes has a 3-year contract made this a no brainer to me.
For the second part I actually have a side-bet with an Eastern Conference Rival on whether I should/could have made a coaching change in the midst of a 5-game winning streak..... I say it will make no difference.
What do the rest of you say?

A team can win in spite of it's coach. A benefit long term for sure.
obviously you havent seen MAP this season and his progression. The kid is a stud and looks out of place at the AHL level and should easily be up with Edmonton tearing it up and its only a matter of time. I was also looking for additional picks which I recieved. krajicek is 8th on my defensive depth chart and he's been a healthy scratch for Vancouver multiple times this season and isnt as great as everyone thinks. Please re-examine your facts before you stuff your balls................foot in your mouth.
Anyways how's that Levacalier deal working out for ya??????
