Opinions on Trades- Preseason 2007

Anyone see this one?

To Vancouver: Brent Sopel, Michael Blunden, Pit 2008 Rnd 5, Pit 2008 Rnd 6
To Pittsburgh: Joe Sakic

With Hasek on his way out or to the minors Van is now bellow the cap floor.

This looks like a fire sale before a GMs resignation.

i think he was referring to the pending ufas, he wasn't going to move those three for pending ufas, foote has two years left on his deal and langenbrunner has three.... therefore, vlasic and stafford became available...

St. Louis wins this one by a massive margin.  Not sure why Vancouver would want to acquire two guys with a couple years left when they aren't going to be competing...

why not just keep one of the Sakic or Hasek contracts and then not need to worry about the cap floor?

So it plays out like this:

IN:
Adam Foote
Jamie Lagenbruner
Brent Sopel
Michael Blunden
Pit 2008 Rnd 5

OUT:
Drew Stafford
Marc-Edouard Vlasic
Joe Sakic
Dominic Hasek (suspended because of moving Sakic)

Doesn't make much sense to me!

i highly doubt that this trade would be reversed... vancouver needs to get over the minimum cap payroll and i provided him the option... do i think i won this trade? yes but there's always a side that wins and loses from someone perspective... but i also think that chicago and pittsburgh won their deals with vancouver, with new york islanders, going back a month i could pick out deals that made no sense...

You are not on the BOD anymore....You cant pull another one of your cry baby tactics like you did with Bergeron.

I almost wish he could for these deals.  Great cap managment though.  I don't know how you lose a player both to being over and under the cap in hte same month

Mike, I know for a fact that TB doesn't think much of you, so for him to care about your team isn't a reflection upon him being a crybaby. More he realizes the unfairness of the trade and wants to help your team.
