RE: Opinions on Trades- Preseason 2007

Nabokov is a free agent after this season.  Noone would give me fair value for him.  I believe the best player in the best offer i recieved was Rob Neidermayer.
It was either move him before the season started and get something, or keep him as a backup and get nothing at season's end.

Sykora is signed for a few years, and will play with Crosby and/or Malkin this season.  If he is ever going to put up points, it will be this season.  I know his best seasons were with Jersey about 10 years ago, but he's put up at least 50 points every season.  Even if he flops, im not out that much: A free agent and a late round pick.

Hey Wings, sorry to shoot down your deal, and I understand your thinking on the subject, but I guarantee you could get twice as much value for Nabokov.

Nabbys a UFA after this year though, which hurts his value, normally where I would be more concerned with a newbie GM, Ian knows what he's doing (outside of his hardon for Ulf), and is a good GM.

Please keep the opinions on OFFICIAL trades to this thread ONLY. I thought the whole point of the new trade thread was to make it easier for all of us to find out about trades. I just went to the thread and there are a bunch of unofficial trades and people commenting.

What? There are 2 threads...

1-post your official trades in the official trades thread ONLY, nothing else- 0 discussion.

2- post all your opinions on the trades made in the Official Trades thread in "Opinions Thread"

Thanks.

**Directions for quoting a trade**
1-Go into the official trades thread
2-copy the trade (control+C)
3-Go into the opinions on trades thread
4-Paste the trade (control+V)
5-Type: "[*quote]" into the post above everything you want to quote without the *.
6-Type: "[/*quote]" without the *.
7-Write your opinion below the quote

Yeah, we might need eric or bryce to back this a bit more, but once GMs get used to it its much easier. GMs gotta realize that YOU CANNOT POST ANYTHING BUT TRADES IN THE OFFICIAL TRADES THREAD PERIOD. Opinions belong here only, period.

After that, we'll be good.

Things are getting better slowly already, if any GMs have a problem with posting opinions in the official trade thread then we might have to ask Bryce/Eric to start fining GMs who disobey. I just hope that we can accomplish this without that threat. Its really not a hard concept and builds our trade archive in chronological order in an easy to read fashion.

TO NYR:  RYAN POTULNY
               ANDREW HUTCHINSON
               NIKLAS BERGFORS
TO BUF:  NOAH WELCH
               NYR 1ST 09
               NYR 2ND 09
               1 MILLION CASH

See, it's as easy as that. Once everyone gets used to it, it's very simple and easy. And most of all keeps the actual official trades thread clean with ONLY trades.

i'm confused, do we have to send in trades via the email and post them on the board? or is posting them on the board in that other thread optional?

Yes. it's optional. Official trades will only be deemed official through both teams emailing. However, it is appreciated:D
