To NYR: Ed Jovanovski
To LA: Jason Arnott

And NY pays the 4 million compensation fee for trading away the UFA.

Not sure what to think about this. From a NYR perspective, for cash (which is all it cost to sign Arnott in UFA, the bonus + fee) they just got Jovo.

One overpaid 5 year contract for another.

LA benefits more from the contract with their offensive needs.

The NYR now have a 10 million per year pairing for 5 years: Hamrlik-Jovanovski weirdface.gif

Not a big fan of picking up Arnotts salary but I was offering them that in free agency and I don't have to pay the SB any more so its all good.. Arnott / Erat / Ryder makes somewhat of a solid line.

I guess this is the only way to move these players.

One terrible contract for another. LMAO

To Vancouver: Sergie Gonchar, Mike Comire, 2,000,000
To Detroit: Tomas Vanek, Brent Burns

The Canucks might have just gotten themselves a Norris trophy candidate:

Sergei Gonchar D L OK 67 74 67 88 88 72 75 80 95 73 61 81 86 80

Passing to Sullivan-Sakic-Jagr eyepopping.gif

They probably have, and if they all stay healthy they will do some damage in the playoffs.  But, with me having Pronger, I could afford to lose Gonchar.

Just wait another season or two, and you guys wont be talking about Gonch passing to Sullivan-Sakic-Jagr, it will be all about Pronger setting up Cammalleri-Getzlaf-Vanek

Gonchar is the best offensive dman in the brhl today. Signed for 4 more years at a cheap price for his talent we are thrilled to have him.. His PA of 80 and PC of 95 will go well with Jagr Sakic and Sullivan.

Vancouver is a bit top heavy, but an interesting strategy. We'll see if it works.

Anaheim gets themself a decent NHL rookie prospect as Enstrom is an offensive defenseman expected to get a chance to start on the NHL's Thrashers this coming season.

The Islanders organization gets a big hard-hitting centre with some puck control for the Bridgeport Tigers this season in Svitov, a player whose future beyond this coming season is uncertain at best with a break in his NHL contract to return to Russia. The late round pick is added to the NYI stockpile for the benefit of the active scouting department.

to Anaheim: Enstrom

to NYI: Svitov + 6th

Anaheim wins this trade hands down.

Not really sure why you would want to add a player thats gone back to russia just to help your farm team for 1 year, especially when you could have a player that has a good chance of playing in the NHL this year. The 6th round pick is thrown in more just to make a raping look more like a sexual assualt

Detroit wins this trade big time!  And to think, when I traded Gonchar and Comrie to Detroit, I only got Matthew Lombardi
Tomas Kaberle and A.J. Thelen, two of which I've subsequently traded...  I feel violated!

With that, I thought I'd take a look at what I ultimately got for Gonchar and Comrie...  The result isn't as nice as I had hoped:

TRADE 1

to Detroit:
Sergei Gonchar
Mike Comrie
Jason Bacashihua
Ana 5, 2008
Ana 7, 2008

to Anaheim:
Matthew Lombardi
Tomas Kaberle
A.J. Thelen

TRADE 2

to Philadelphia
Tomas Kaberle
ANA 2, 2008
$2.5M

to Anaheim:
Drew Stafford
Lukas Krajicek

TRADE 3

to Atlanta:
Drew Stafford
Nikita Alexeev
Ana 4, 2008

to Anaheim:
Chris Mason
$500k

TRADE 4

To St Louis:
Chris Mason
Pavel Kubina

To Anaheim:
Kyle Okposo
Jiri Novotny
Ilja Bryzgalov

TRADE 5

to Anaheim:
Petr Kalus
Michael Grabner
Car 1 '08

to Carolina:
Matthew Lombardi
Matt Foy

THE RESULT

OUT:

Sergei Gonchar
Mike Comrie
Pavel Kubina
Jason Bacashihua
Nikita Alexeev
Matt Foy
ANA 2, 2008
Ana 4, 2008
Ana 5, 2008
Ana 7, 2008
$2M

IN:
Ilja Bryzgalov
Kyle Okposo
Lukas Krajicek
Petr Kalus
Michael Grabner
Jiri Novotny
A.J. Thelen
Car 1, 2008

I'm wondering what people think of the end result...  Do I win or lose overall?
