RE: Year 1 Payouts

Kind of amazing that so many teams won so little money. I like it like that though. I think next year we'll be seeing a lot more teams go for the cup. Unless you can get a whack of top prospects (ala Buffalo) rebuilding really isn't worth it.

Matt, your short-term strategy is equally valid as any rebuilding strategy, no more or less.

We are not here to make money though that could be a goal if one wants, easily measured. Though as a money maker even the g.m. with the biggest payout is getting much less than minimum wage in per-hour return.

Money is a bonus for those of us just happy to have a league actually finish seasons (so many FHL leagues die midseason) . The $50 helps ensure a minimum level of commitment.

That's how I see it.

Well put.  I didn't come into this looking to win any money at all.  I was just looking for a good sim league.  The money aspect just helps to drive the activity and competitiveness level higher which is a good thing.

It will eventually over time every league starts off with X number of GM's that either are not capable or quit

haha MTL got pwned in this thread.  He tried to lay a toungue lashing to NYI and NYI brushed it right off his shoulder LOL.

Nonetheless, this league isnt even all that active.  Theres like 10-12 good GMs.  I have another free league thats going into its 5th season and it has 50,000 posts in those first 4 seasons compared to our 3500 or whatever in 1 season... At this pace, we'd reach 50,000 in season 14.

Wow...  I cannot even begin to imagine how hard it would be to tread through that message board!  This one is bad enough...  let me know what league that is so I know to stay away.

haha, its not all hockey and crazy discussions about rules.  Hardly any of it is.

Theres lots of discussions about politics, other sports, beer, girls, movies whatever.  Its a much better tight knit group of guys over there by now, so its easy to understand.

This league, for the most part, has more mature GM's, many of which who have full time jobs and or families. For that reason alone I can understand why we have lower message board counts compared to these other leagues you mention. Personally, I prefer to come on here and talk purely about the league rather than discuss outside stuff such as beer and girls with people I barely know.

oh yeah, i forgot, my other league is full of people who dont have families or jobs...

I think its a matter of people who arent confident in what they have to say more than anything.

Ummm, I think that's what FRIENDS are for...you know, those people that you can speak to NOT through a keyboard.....sorry, but I hate it when people judge a league by message board activity....all I want to see is maybe some trash talking every now and then, trade blocks, and necessary commentary...I'm not in leagues to discuss my wife, the last season of Lost or how my dog pissed on my carpet today.

Wow, so a league has 50,000 posts...congratulations...you have officially found a league where people clearly have nothing better to do.

Congrats to all teams that placed in the money 1 way or another.  The New York Rangers are extremely proud to have currently 2.25% totallying $33 bucks and it looks pretty good that another 1 or 2 % will be added to that total with a AHL Final appearence and possibly championship to follow, hopefully.

The NYR although one of the last place teams in the final standings are all over the board with moving in the right direction with 5 of the top 50 prospects, the top trade of the year, and currently one of the final 4 teams in the AHL Finals.

Things are looking up for the Rangers and next season, more to come on the recent Rangers resigning of RFA's.
