There were TWO star forwards double shifted. I saw them on the lines in the playoff roster section.... I do indepth analyses and recall that clearly..
the point is: double checking vigilancy is called for
I'm not calling you a liar, as I haven't checked the "lines" pages once until today for any of the games, and simply viewed the actual game file. What I AM saying, is that regardless of any sort of alleged "double shifting" that may or may not have occured, the lines I sent in did not have ANY double shifting forwards. So if the league wants to double, triple, or quadruple check lines for that, I have no problems with that what so ever. Or hell, they can go back to their e-mail box and re-open every lines file I've sent in for the playoffs. There's been no double shifting done by Panther management.
I will also point out that regardless of lines being sent in, there's clearly something wrong with either the output on the lines page, or the program itself, because if you look at today's lines, clearly Timonen is in the lineup, yet he's also stated as being a "healthy scratch".

Just so everyone knows, we have received an email from the commishes... Not sure what the resolution will be, but I guess we will see what we can come up with. Obviously, all things considered, this is a tough situation with no easy solution.

I think you may have to bite the bullet jamie. I mean i would be upset too, but can we really refund 50 dollars for one mistake? I dont think so, in my opinion. Let me ask you this, what would you have done if you had won? Would edmonton have been jipped out of a win? After the fact I can't see anything done. The only thing I could see would be to Resim the game to the way it was before, but I dont know that program all that well.
You can't resim the game now. I highly doubt the files were saved back when that happened, and even if they were, it would force us to play every game after the last Minny-Edmonton game again. Unfortunately you can't re-sim only one game, and that would be unfair to Edmonton anyways.
I feel really bad for Minny, is that is just a brutal way to end the season. Eric has been really good at loading lines all season so I don't know what went wrong. Perhaps from now on if you're going to change your starting goalie you should make it very clear in writing in the email, so that Eric can double check it.
But anyways, I certainly don't think it would be fair for Minny to be compensated out of the money that should be going to the rest of the league. If the commishes would like to compensate Minny out of their own pockets, or out of the 4% "league" dues that come out of the total pool, I think that would be fairly fitting and appropriate.
I don't think "what would you have done if you had won?" really matters. The point is, we lost, our 3rd string goalie was mysteriously inserted, and nobody really knows why or how it happened. Who knows what would have happened if Dipietro would have played? We may have lost anyhow, or we may have lost game 7 anyhow. Really though, none of that is the point. The only reason I brought it up at all on the message boards is so everyone is aware of what happened... Hell, we look like idiots playing Cloutier in a do or die game after Dipietro won the prior game for us! I know the sim very well, and there is really no way to resim, especially at this point. So what is the solution? I don't know. I would he happy to get our $50 entry fee for next season paid, but this seems a little much to me. We are discussing it with the commishes right now, and I would expect they will let everyone know what is decided when it is worked out. Finally, I would like to say, being a commish that has used this sim for many years, I understand that crazy things happen. It is too bad that this happened in the playoffs of a pay league, but I will not automatically blame Eric. I don't know how this could have happened, but I have had the sim do weird **** to me before that I could not explain either. Lets just hope that someone comes out with a better sim that has less bugs one day...
Of course it matters..If you had won I guarantee you wouldn't have said anything about it and took the win. You got screwed and there should be some compensation, don't get me wrong.
I won't disaagree if a compensation is given but like Matt said it shouldn't be taken away from other GM's and $50 is way too much. I mean even if DiPietro had been in net what we his chances of winning that game his team score 1 goal. Even if he had won that there was still a game 7 to win. EVEN IF he had done those 2 things, it's only an extra $15.
I dunno maybe take like 10 bucks out of the 4% kept for the league and give it to Minny or something. It sucks but nothing can be done and if it happened to me I'd probably be asking for the same too but I think we have to be realistic and notice that even with DiPi in net, Minny's chances of earning more money weren't that big.
OR maybe this should have been rectified as soon as the sim was done.
What should have been done? That nights sim should have been re-done or even just the MIN/EDM with the correct lines and then there is no problem. To try and rectify the problem now is impossible. Why the sims were continued before the problem was rectified is beyond me.
If this happened to any other team they would be outraged as well. I know we would have been.

Problem is you can't redo just one game and even then it's not very fair to Edmonton who managed to allow only 1 goal and then you tell him no it doesn't count because you were facing Cloutier.
That may be, and this is a simulator so who knows... But as we all know, teams play differently in front of different goalies. Better rebound control, better puck-handling goalie moving the puck forward, more confidence with one guy in net as opposed to the other, etc... Again, we probably would have lost anyhow, but that is not really the point. Probably is not the same as for sure. Who is to say we wouldnt come back to win game 6 and 7 and then go on to win the cup? Our team went on some great streaks this year and who says now wouldnt have been the time for another with Dipietro in goal? Blah blah blah blah... whats done is done, maybe I should have made a bigger stink the night it happened, but I didnt and thats my fault. Something will be worked out, and you will hear from me if we are happy or unhappy. From what I have seen so far in this league the commishes have done a pretty good job of trying to make fair decisions, often under difficult circumstances. Maybe there needs to be policy written on these types of incidents (ie. GM to report problem within a certain time after the game is simmed, with some type of process to deal with the problems). More kinks to be worked out in a still developing league...
