I appreciate Chicagos post on the subject. Basing the ability to be a BOD member on being in the top half of active GMs (which must be a measurable amount ) is not putting "poor quality" into the BOD. All it does is assures that the person has the ability at their stage in life to put the extra time into this league. No one should get power really except Bryce and Eric in this league without being elected though, dont you guys think?
I agree that at the start it wasnt plausable because they would need responsible people, and they did the best they could with what they knew at the time. However, now that a year has passed and GMs are now moreless out in the open in terms of being knowledgeable or not so much, why not allow them to have at least a SHOT at being on the board? At the very least I just think that BOD candidates should be revisted after an entire fiscal year. Maybe dont base it on votes at all, allow anyone to throw their hat in the ring, but at least make it something that is voted upon? If you do a good job then you remain the BOD (IF YOU THREW URE HAT BACK INTO THE RING). How is that a bad system?

Basing the ability to be a BOD member on being in the top half of the active GMs is not "necessarily" putting "poor quality" into the BOD. Nor is it "necessarily" putting "good quality" into the board. Making a lot of posts does not equate to being a good candidate OR a bad candidate, just like making few doesn't necessarily do it either. But I'd rather have someone who makes few posts, but have shown to be rationale and intelligent in their responses over someone (and no, this isn't pointing fingers at anybody) who makes a tonne of posts, but is mostly complaining or whining about something all the time.
I agree Florida. Are we right then in our request to have the BOD role in this league be one held accountable through a vote every summer then? Possibly the post count idea was dumb, just a suggestion to make things move faster, someone who posts more usually is capable to have quick responses, which is night from the BOD. If the decision who is on the BOD is ultimately put to vote then it eliminates the possibility of someone who is a "known idiot" to get into the BOD position. Having the post count be part of the criteria would result in a BOD who can respond efficiently.

Problem is according to some the defintion of idiot is someone who disagrees with me. Bryce and Eric are gonna decide who's on the BOD, it's their league, no point in arguing this.
