What is the verdict on whether or not we are going to take the position of the team in the NHL lotto.
As of right now: Ex. If Washington wins the lotto as the 4th spot in the NHL, SJ wins it for BRHL. NHL 1)Philly 2)Phx 3)Chicago 4)Washington 5)LA
BRHL2 1)Buffalo 2)LA 3)NYR 4)San Jose 5)Vancouver
This accomplishes a few things: 1) Completely fairness- I'm not saying anything would ever happened, but it just ensures guarenteed fairness. 2) No work or Hassle. 3) Sets a standard/date to be done annually.
so let me get this straight and if i got this clear... your suggestion is... that we should do the lotto draft by using what the nhl does?
ex... i have nashville in here.. which my team sucks.. yet. nashville in the nhl is the top 3 team in the league. meaning my draft pick is 28th.. and my brhl team is medoicre at best.
sorry i dont think i really like this method ONE BIT... my opinion only.. what is other gm's thoughts.. you guys know where i stand.
I like that idea here's the problem, implementing it into the sim. I just played with it and it doesn't allow you to set that.
What it does is automatically runs a lottery, teams can move up or down 4 spots max. I do not know the percentages involved. I am searching FHLsim for an answer, but for now it's strictly the job of the sim to incorporate the odds and implement them.
I dont use the draft in the sim anyhow when I have done it in other leagues. I always track the picks with a separate web page and just input the guys after the fact (whether the sim has the right order or not). Basically, who cares what the sim does, it is easy to make sure the right guys get on the right team when all is said and done.

Ive never used the sim draft setup either. It seems too difficult compared to this system. Not to mention, who really know what percentages the creator put into the sim for the lottery, they could be completely wrong.
Eric, I think alot of people would have an easier time if we use the suggested way of doing it, purely for the fact that there is no chance for anything to be done improperly.
Is there anyway we can put this to a league wide vote? I think that the non-playoff teams really should have the biggest say on the subject. Its not hurting anyone to do it this way either, so its not really even a rule change, its just a good way to do it.
Ya, it doesn't really need much thought if you ask me as long as it's not too much trouble for the commish's. I would think this would give them a little break if anything.
Doing the draft lottery manually would take at most like 20 minutes. It's really easy. I don't really care either way though. This method seems kind of fun.
