For those of you who thinks he's just taking his money and running..it's not true. A few weeks ago Matt was so troubled by the precedent trade by Philly-ATL which went like this:
To Atl: Ladislav Smid
TO Philly: J. Stoll
The trade is completely fair, however what made it unfair was a clause which is completely unrealistic and allows the possibility for collusion is that: Atl could reneg the trade after the ratings if he didnt like the rating. This is completely unfair on so many levels. Anyways that wasnt the point of this thread. THe was was to inform those of you who don't know where hes gone. Hes just taking some time off from the league because he can't handle things like this going on, and he felt like his voice wasnt heard.
i have had some of the same issues as Matt but you gotta look at the big picture: the consequences of that trade doesn't throw the competitive balnce out of whack, so matt and i and others it bothers could let it slide
it is a pahlsson, stoll for smid and a 4th that i have an option of flipping in the offseason, and a similar situation with robert lang fliped for a pick in the offseason.
and just like I predicted at the time, Stoll's injury in the NHL is more serious than initially thought and I wouldnt deal Smid and his entry level contract for stoll straight up now.......
so the deal that matt is still crying about is pahlsson a 70 OV forward optionally being flipped for a 4th in the offseason..... but buffalo failed to mention that i also gave up something along the lines of a 2nd and 2 3rd's to get the deal done.

I dont really and reason to listen to your logic. The fact of the matter is, if you wanted to do the trade in the offeseason, then wait! otherwise it leaves room for playoff stacking then returning! Unless their are some perameters to the option then its just dumb for 1 team to be able to take it back..The only reason for not waiting is cheating. I can't believe more people dont care about this issue.
SO let me get this straight. You can have lang back for a pick, while eric has used Lang for his playoff run, then you get him back. THIS IS CHEATING and no where in the rules.
Bryce and Eric, I think you guys are awesome commishes. But you need to be more bold with rules. I can't see how you could possibly think an open ended trade is fair. It's mind boggling.
I don't know why we didnt just trade with our friend habs give him crosby as the center for the playoffs, but have the "option" of taking it back..1 it makes our team worse for getting the top pick..2 he wins the cup..win win...

I'll remeber that next year for the playoffs...
It's very dumb and it will be fixed next year. Apparently there is something with Robert Lang and a 5th round pick which the BOD was never even made aware of and I don't think was posted anywhere, to me that is extremely borderline.
