Minors Spotlight

This weeks minor league spotlight is on the Lowell Devils, the minor league affiliate for the New Jersey Devils.

The Devils are off to a great start to the minor league season with a 22-6-1 start to the year. 7-3-0 in their last 10, and the Devils organization is one of the few to likely see playoffs in both the pro's and the minors. This team is packed full of offensive firepower as Simon Gamache, Alexander Daigle and Jon Sim are all amongst the league leaders for points in the minor leagues. Daigle leads the league with 21 goals, and Jon Sim is second with 20, despite the fact Sim missed the last sim as he's currently up with the big club.

Between the pipes, Ty Conklin has been playing spectacularly, but he was a deadline day casualty and the Devils are expecting Sebastian Caron to carry the load between the pipes the rest of the way.

On defense Matt Smaby is the only created player left and the team is without any proven players on defense, should this team continue to succeed it will have to be on the offense. Unfortunately for Lowell fans, a callup is expected as the Devils recently lost Ed Jovanovski for the duration of the season with an injury. The Devils organization has not said who is going to get the next callup. All we know is this group can score, and if they are to make noise in the postseason, must continue to do so.
