"Over 17000 and it's dead, been so since welcoming Forsberg at the start of the game. Kind of reminds one of the old Maple Leaf Gardens where fans used to sit on their hands and were too quiet."
quoted by the colour commentator on the nhl.com radio coverage of the Nashville-Minnesota game, while tied 1-1 in the third.
The buzz in Nashville: "What's the big deal? If anything they look worse. You can't guarantee a sports team will play better just by adding a star. It can even interfere with their mojo. And - oh - did you hear? Upshall played great in Philly tonight. What makes one think we were going to go from never ever winning a single playoff round to sudden cup champions by adding one old injured vet, and with Trotz as coach?? a good development guy, but not the sort of coach with any experience to take us over the hump."

Who cares? I could MAYBE buy the whole "adding a star can mess things us" if its a non team player. But there arent many of those with the exception of guys like IK and Alexei Kovalev..
Forsberg is like the exact opposite of that. He even said he was trying to pass the puck tooo much that game. IMO when forsberg is healthy he is a top 5 player in ther world STILL. This trade makes Nashville sooo much better, even though they were already really good.
BTW just cus upshall scored, doesnt mean he played great...
Another game and another zonker for Forsberg, but he's trying harder to score, as his team was up 4-0 against Phoenix in the third period and yet Forsberg still took 4 shots that period. Probably trying to get the monkey off his back.
And in other news... Scottie Upshall continues his scoring streak, with a goal and an assist today for the Flyers.
But it definitely was a decent trade, oh yeaaahhhhh.
Of course! But to those who thought the trade was worth it simply for the BUZZ FACTOR. Wwell, if there's buzz in Nashville this week it's not all good.
Whether it was a good trade is at the very least an OPEN question.
I think the trade is a big stinker and only a trip to the conference finals would make it worthwhile. But I'm willing to grant that the "buzz factor" can help increase the corporate support sadly lacking in Nashville, if the buzz factor becomes much, and so if community support increases a lot and the Predators win their first ever playoff round, then maybe, maybe it might have been worth it, even though they still gave up a bit too much.

Who does that, decides after two games? Nobody. Those who think a trade is hogwash simply are pointing out the starting trail of evidence that will end with ITYS!
After two games, the BUZZ in Nashville is not a big benefit of the trade. Will Forsberg have several good games? Of course! if he stays healthy, which is touch and go with his own admittance that he's nursing injuries this season.
tied 5-5 after regulation with no points by Forsberg
He was NOT chosen as one of three shootout players for Nashville. Kariya was chosen as one of the three and scored but a Habs player scored too.
So they go to extra shootout, as fourth players are chosen for each team, Saku Koivu scoring for the Habs, then Forsberg was chosen and... didn't score. Fell flat on his face actually. Habs win the game.
Forsberg has done nothing in Nashville. But it's only been a week. I too think he'll have some good games, if his season-long nagging foot injury doesn't slow or stop him.
Reagrdless, the trade was lame, done probably to try and preserve the job of the g.m. and coach in Nashville.

Forsberg rarely shot in shootouts for Philly.
Some players are good at shootouts some aren't. I take it he either isn't good, or just doesn't like to take part. For Ottawa last night, none of Alfie, Spezza or Heatley took part in the shootout that went to 4 shooters...what does that mean?

Well one of the reasons he wasn't shooting in shootouts is because he refused to, his sticks had something wrong with them.
