That's a contending line-up and your trades have shown your focus in getting guys for more than just a one-postseason rental but...

Since when has Sykora been playing centre

And with so many quality players as RFA it's hard to believe you'll be able to sign all or even all but two of them, especially with Hemsky and Huselius needing huge raises. That will be your team's challenge.

Heatley-Brindamour-Frolov ($ 9.3 million line)
Huselius (RFA)-Sykora (RFA)-Hemsky (RFA)
Torres (RFA)-Stoll(RFA)-Pisani(RFA)
Weiss-Pahlsson-Malone/Dvorak/Johnson/BooGaard
rupp as spare

poti (RFA)-hannan (RFA)
foote-clark ($ 4.95 million pairing)
hejda-klesla (RFA)
vanaanon as spare

hopeful ufa goalie
and bryzgalov (RFA) as back up

Good luck with that!

Rex (Phillly) Stop brining your Willie Mitchell is God's Gift to hockey posts on here. THe guy isnt even that good. YES he gets SH mins! For maybe the team with one of the worst D's in the league. (they give edmonton a run). Mitchell isn't close to Lydman IMO. MItchell is -8. with 5 points..greaaat. Whats lydman like +6 and 15 points?

This is comical.  Why doesn't everyone just worry about their own team?  Just a thought.  Who cares if he traded away his 1st round pick?  If he thinks he's getting value for it then that's his perogative to make the deal.  Unless you win the cup, there isn't much you can say about another GM's methods.

We had a plan set from the start of the season and although some would think we're crazy mortgaging our whole future for a cup run, we think it's worth it.  Are we right?  Who knows.  The only GM who can say he made all the right moves is the one who's team will be sipping Labbatt's OV from Lord Stanleys Cup.  And even if we don't win it, it's going to be a blast next year cause we will basically be building a whole new team from scratch and giving it another go and that's what a sim league is all about for us.

11 UFAs....that might be a bit of a challenge.  As for NYI....I was giving Jay a hard time in the chatrroom last night....half joking/half serious.(My apologies if it was too much.  It was late and the old man was tired...and nobody would trade with me....unless I gave Kirk Havlat for Huselieus and some scraps.)

I hope Jay's plan works out.

WOW, that IS a stunning lineup!  And if I follow the logic from today's front page story, they should all have wicked rerates because they're all breathing this season.

LOL

I love when people are so concerned about OV and what OV their players will come in as. OV means nothing, if I had my way the sim wouldn't output it at all. Just because a dman is big and fights he will have a 70 ov, hello Jason Strudwick, Steve Montador etc.... But their key attributes are god awful.

Everyone is overly optimistic of their team. But I think Kirk thinks he's in Communist Russia with the propoganda crap he puts out there.

ST and IT are actually more important for a D than PA and PC.

If you're talking to their OV yes they are, if you're talking about their effectiveness you're WAAYYYYY off base.

Lets run a quick comparison using our teams as we're basically the same in points and with dmen we've had all season.

Joni Pitkanen 66IT 67ST 75PA 76PC
63 games 15g 23a +1 76hits

Colin White 78IT 78ST 60PA 64PC
64 games 6g 16a -3 140hits

now as a team, you are +28 on the season, yet White is a -3, he has better offensive numbers than one would think but that is likely a result of playing top line minutes with a very good forward core. Pitkanen has played half the year on the second unit, and my team as a whole is only +7 on the season while Pitkanen is +1.

Granted their are always veriables but their OV's are basically the same, yet Pitkanen is a more well rounded dman, while White is strictly a specialist who's inability to move the puck likely is also why he's a minus player on a very good team. And I think that situations have added to his performance points wise and it would be tough to argue that.

PA and PC are vastly more important to the performance of a sim player than ST and IT, the latter just inflate the OV and lead people to think that Willie Mitchell is a good dman in the sim.
