in my other league we roll a 1000 sided dice on the internet and the results are emailed out right after the number is rolled to a 3rd party to prove nothing shady is going on.

Basically each team is assigned its percentage of sides to the die.

30th overall has 25% chance of winning so gets numbers 1-250
29th is like 17.7% chance or something so gets 251-427
28th is like 12% so would get 428-548

etc for all the percentages.  I forget what they are exactly except for the top one.

Just another option that we know works.

With the season fast ending, the lottery draft looms for teams near the bottom of the standings. Here is the chances of each team winning the lottery and moving up as much as 4 spots in the entry draft this summer:

30th -25% (1-250)
29th - 18.8% (251-438)
28th - 14.2% (439-580)
27th - 10.7% (581-687)
26th - 8.1% (688-768)
25th - 6.2% (769-830)
24th - 4.7% (831-877)
23rd - 3.6% (878-913)
22nd - 2.7% (914-940)
21st - 2.1% (941-961)
20th - 1.5% (962-976)
19th - 1.1% (977-987)
18th - 0.8% (988-995)
17th - 0.5% (996-1000)

The numbers in the brackets represent the numbers that can be rolled with our 1000 sided dice we can "roll" on the internet with a program I can track down if we want to go with this format. It rolls the dice and then emails the results to a third party in order for it to be impossible to tamper with it as long as the third party is impartial to the results.

Remember, whichever number is rolled determines the winner, the winner moves up 4 spots in the draft. So the only teams that can get the first overall pick are the bottom 5 teams. If 6th wins it, he moves up to 2nd, etc...

I am excited by the fact that I still have a 25% chance at the first pick....

This would be the simplest way http://www.random.org/nform.html

And whatever number you come up with corresponding to the 1-1000 stats that Buffalo provided, you get your winnner.  Sabres will be happy to know that in my test, 18th Overall won the lottery, leaving them with the top 2 picks in the draft.

Actually knowing who you guys are keying on, I don't feel hurt having 3-4..and I think 6 right now.  We get three REALLLY solid kids and should be pretty happy with that.  Sure, we would like the blueliner....but we have lots of blueline depth.

We've offered you several deals to trade down, you could potentially have number 1 if you want it. Plus you dont know who we are keying on ;)

We do think differently our team and yours. After all, you ripped us for taking Letang when we did in the fantasy draft. Look how that turned out ;) We could have another surprise liek that.

New idea for this:

Lets just go with whichever position in the real life NHL wins the lottery, the same wins it here. That way there is absolutly no chance of tampering with it at all? Nice and easy and we should be done a bit before the NHL.

Why is that so funny? It actually shows the results to everyone?

Maybe instead of just mocking peoples comments you should venture to tell why you disagree.

It would only be the POSITION of the team who wins. Obviously not the team.

Another option which keeps the integrity of the lotto is doing it through a website which emails the results to the league.

I think CBJ misunderstood as I did at first.  You're not saying that we get the actual NHL teams draft position.

With the current standings in both the NHL and BRHL2, BUF (BRHL2) would end up with whatever pick PHI (NHL) would get in the NHL draft.  Correct?

Without giving too much thought, I like that idea.  It takes away from worrying about the draft for everyone.  The commish doesn't have to worry about a proper way to do the lottery and all of us would have a piece of mind that the draft was done correctly (no offence commish's)

Yeah at first I was like wtf but it doesn't sound like too bad of an idea.
