Great article, can't wait to read the Western version

"New York Islanders (55 points) – The Isles have probably outperformed their personal since being stripped down, and darn near every NHL ready asset has been dealt, that’s why we expect the Isles to be buyers at the deadline. With a surplus of prospects and youth, with teams looking to strip down and rebuild, the Isles are in position to give youth for NHL ready players. Expect some deals that are off the radar as the Isles begin their climb to respectability. A few names we’re hearing include Brad Boyes, Chris Kunitz, and Raffi Torres."
The personnel is not geared to compete for the playoffs; it's in rebuilding mode, oriented toward seasons three and four, with some attention to competing for a playoff spot in season two, but NO moves toward that will be made until the off season (after re-rates) or into next season.
The names "we're hearing" were never uttered by the Isles organization, though an underachieving player like ex-Islander Torres (10 goals so far this season, no way will get near last season's 27, and people were saying he'll be a 30-goal scorer, that's doubtful it's seeming) would be of some interest, but not for his OV now, but for the potential to be a factor in a contending team a couple of postseasons down the road.
Some teams might sacrifice future success to simply squeeze into the playoffs and get bounced in the first round or two for sure. The Islanders would rather sell pro clubbers - as we have - and stockpile assets in order to make moves next season and beyond.
There are several productive regular-shift NHLers in the Isles organization, on the prospect list: Greg Metropolit, Ville Peltonen, Owen Nolan, Petteri Nummelin, Anders Eriksson, John Oduya, not to mention two who'll compete for the backup goalie job: Backstrom, Norrena.
The Islanders will be looking for a starting goaltender and first-line centre, but not until the off season.
As stated on the boards, Radek Dvorak (19 a, 29 pts) is the only player the organization had planned on moving by the trade deadline, as a seller (not a buyer of pro talent now).

I stand by my sources who insist the players above have been bandied about. What I'm saying about the Isles being sellers, is how much more can you sell? I would think you'd be trying to add some talent in now. Thats why the players mentioned would make sense, you'd be stocking up longterm, and for next season. You wouldn't be buying to make the playoffs this season so no rentals, but good young players that would help longterm.
