Sharks/Wings Deal

As the playoffs are no longer a realistic objective, the Sharks have unfortunatly officially given up on the season

I have traded all the rentals that I picked up in the past weeks in my attempt to make a push for the playoffs.

This is what the deal looks like:

To San Jose: Roman Voloshenko, Det 2 2007, Det 4 2007 and $250k

To Detroit: Mike Leclerc, Eric Daze, Luc Robitaille and Peter Nedved

Im glad that I was able to package all my rentals into one deal....individually the players werent worth much....as I was receiving offers of 5th round picks for each from contending GMs,,,,,,,,,.but as a package I was able to acquire a fairly strong prospect in Voloshenko and a decent pick in DET2.

This deadline-type deal was made early due to the fact that there are more teams dropping out of the playoff race, so I couldnt afford to be patient in moving my assets as very few contending teams have cap room to be active at the deadline, so we had to move fast

A few days ago, I also traded away Roenick for another fairly good prospect in Michael Blunden...JR was a difficult asset to make as his $5M salary was difficult to fit under a contender's cap.

Overall, I think I did fairly well in managing my assets..despite my failed plan of acquiring some veterans to make a playoff run...

To acquire Leclerc, Daze, Robitaille and Nedved i gave up the following:

Bill Thomas, Jay Leach, Prestin Ryan, SJ3, SJ5 SJ7, CBJ6

I flipped that package around and picked up Voloshenko and DET2 + more...

Although Im very dissapointed that the playoffs are out of reach, I feel i did my best to make the best out of the bad situation....

Good luck to all playoff contenders.....

Sharks Trade Block: Oleg Tverdovski, Brian Savage, Mariuz Czerkawski..available for late picks or $cash

Awesome job, there's no way that those 4 assets combined are worth Voloshenko and a 2nd. Taking up so much cap room with so little impact, I would say they are almost minus assets.
