Last night the Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings hooked up on a deal that saw the Bruins deal Holik and 1 million to Detroit in exchange for Stephane Yelle.
With Holik's salary, we felt it nessecary to get rid of him and attain more flexibility, we are thrilled to get a solid 3rd line center back in Stephane, and believe he will add to our already stellar group of defensive forwards.
It was no secret the Bruins had been shopping Holik throughout the league, but the team had targeted the Red Wings right away because with a surprising team, and lots of cap room, they appeared to be an ideal fit. We wish Bobby the best this season and hope he helps the Wings get into the playoffs.
The trade gives the Bruins roughly 3 million in cap space as their payroll will likely sit around 36 million after the trade and demotion of Maxime Talbot.
