Actually, I just noticed: Lidstrom didn't play yet.
Oilers have a matter of hours to make a trade to get under the cap?
Salary cap management is one of the most urgently defined responsibilities of a g.m., one must be within the cap.
The rules are crytal clear:
"F. If a GM makes a trade that puts his team in violation of this limit the GM must work his roster through more trades, line juggling, waivers, or buyouts to get back over the floor and under the ceiling by that teams next games.
i. Punishment for the violation of the salary cap will be the suspension of the highest paid player of that team for the remainder of the season as well as that particular player becoming an Unrestricted Free Agent during the subsequent off season; regardless of current salary and age."
Hey boys its NYR GM. I'm speaking with the Boston-Commish right now and he cant login to the message board from home at the moment for some reason but he wanted me to tell you guys that "Edmonton has until next game to get under. He's over because the Lidstrom deal wasnt processed until Saturday and he is yet to play a game"
BOS-BRHL-COMMISH (11:30 AM) :
can u do me a favour first.....on teh messageboard can you reply to the Isles thread abouit Edmonton being over the cap and say that I said he has until his next game to be under. He's over now cause the Lidstrom deal was processed Saturday and he is yet to play a agame.....I can't login to the messageboard from home for some reason
Brent and Garrett agreed to have the trade put through afterwards. Thus allowing him to play Friday under the cap. Now after the trade he needs work to get under. However, he has till his next game which will be Wednesday due to the ALL-Star break.
