(Toronto) Mired in the midst of the worst pro season in his career, Nicklas Lidstrom has quietly approached Toronto management and told them he would consider moving to another franchise if it would help the franchise long term.
"I love this city and its fans. I want to see it become and winner, and if that means I have to move on to bring in different assets, then I guess that's something I'll have to consider."
The price is expected to be quite high. The team holding Lidstrom's will have the ability to place a "franchise tag" on the future hall of famer, therefore controlling his rights for next season.
(Please don't not email asking what I'm looking for. Its obvious that I'll be looking for you assets for next season).
The team holding Lidstrom's will have the ability to place a "franchise tag" on the future hall of famer, therefore controlling his rights for next season.
If he is dealt whoever gets him would not be able to tag him as he wouldn't have played there for the full season.
"The tag can only be used to resign with a team if they have been there for at least one full season."
