Luongo trade.

I'm just going to make a comment and leave it at that.

I had a deal in place that was processed earlier in the season that was then rejected at a later date.  To me, this Luongo deal is even worse then that one.  Fernandez vs Luongo.  No doubt the better and younger goalie.  Ryan Smyth and Savage vs Kapanen, Tom Preissing and 2 mid range draft picks?

I'm sorry, but I don't see a difference between my deal a month ago, and this one now.

Can't have it both ways guys.  Either both deals were rotten, or my deal should have been left alone.

Have at it as ever you please.  These are my opinions.  I'm not asking for anything, just wanted to point out something to me that is just not right.

The deal is actually:
To Pittsburgh: Manny Fernandez, Marek Svatos, Sami Kapanen, Tom Preissing, Nsh 2007 Rnd 3, NYR 2007 Rnd 3
To Philly: Brian Savage, Roberto Luongo, Ryan Smyth

Philly wins this relatively easily but I can see Pittsburgh doing this to save caproom for next year so it's not a vetoable deal in my mind.

The deal as a whole, with Svatos is still awful.  Just wanted my opinion to be heard.  I believe that the league shouldn't be over ruling to willing parties from making a deal.  I just don't understand how we can overule 1 trade, and not blink an eye at what I feel is an even worse trade.  This deal is terrible.

C'mon Garrett, the trades aren't even close to being similar. You would have gotten Niitymaki, Ryder and UFA Holmstrom, for UFA Cujo, UFA Walker, Mark Bell and 2 late picks.

All while LA was in last place with no hope of getting to the playoffs. So after this season they'd have Mark Bell and his 9 points and a 6th and 7th rounder for Niitymaki and Ryder. Hard to say that was a better deal.

While Philly has the edge in this deal now, Pittsburgh has financial flexibility and the younger guys who will be around longer, and they don't have Luongo's 6 million or so salary he'll be carrying around next season.

I agree Philly prob takes the deal but not nearly close to be considered a veto.

Walker was tagable.  Bell is still a solid, inexpensive young forward.  The demand for Cujo I'm finding is very good and he could have been shipped off again.

Like I said, just my opinion, and I'm not the only one who feels like one team got fleeced on this deal.  I just felt that if mine was cause for reversal, another large fleecing like this should at least be discussed and looked at.

Walker would not have been tagable as he wouldnt have played the full season in LA.

Regardless, while I disagree on your perspective, thats the beauty of trades, often it's in the eye of the beholder
