The buzz around ScotiaBank Center this morning after the Bruins skate was that Bruin defenseman Chris Pronger has guaranteed a win to put a halt to the Senators 14 game undefeated streak.
"Sure they've been on a run, but we've got a good team, coach Hartley has us focused and we're going to come in here on Wednesday and end this run the Senators are on, and get going on our own." Pronger stated.
When this was relayed on to Bruins GM he seemed intrigued, "Hey thats great, Chris is an elite player in this league, if he thinks the team is going to go out there and win I have no reason to doubt him. Bothams team has been playing over their heads anyways. It's amazing that a self proclaimed Canucklehead has any success at anything."
Other Bruins downplayed it a bit, but it was clear they were very confident, said Marian Hossa (he of 20 points in 12 games as a Bruin), "This is a very confident team, we're starting to come together, and we feel we can beat anyone, at anytime."
The Bruins are a confident bunch as the prepare for the Senators on Wednesday night, so confident in fact that GM Bryce Shuck threw out the following challenge to Sens GM Rob Botham.
"Hey Rob, 20,000 BRHL2 bucks on the game? Lemme know if you've got the testicular fortitude"
GM Rob Botham has contacted local media with the following statement.
"I think Bryce is a great GM, and is picking a great time to make this challenge as we all know a streak like this can't last forever no matter how well we play as a team. I personally make it a policy not to put undo pressure on my players and feel no need to make public gurantees, the players no what matters and that is to win a Stanley Cup, but I'm happy to invite Bryce to the game were we can have a beer and enjoy another Sens victory."
